For book 1 of the Lymond Chronicles, absolutely! (I refer you to my non-review about The Game of Kings ;)

On first try I gave it up, but returned to it later and for me it was so worth it!!
But after book 1, each book got easier to read despite some heavy content (Dunnett didn't spare her characters and her readers) it became the Most Rewarding Book Series like EVER!! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Finishing book 6 gave me the greatest bookhangover of my reading life and I didn't know what to do with myself for a month! ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿซ

I read the House of Niccolรฒ series after that and while those books are "easier" to read and I loved them, I didn't fall in love with them. (But tastes differ.)

But with whichever series you start, DD is a magnificent writer.!

35559 Sophie,

Happy birthday to your Big Little Boy! ๐Ÿ˜Š

And yes, it seems, when you tick the notification box, it stays put. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

35559 Rebecca,

Yes, I've been to Fairy Glen and loved it. :)

I hope you will make it to Hungary and won't get disappointed.
This w/e we are visiting in the North of HU with my parents, husband and son (will turn 12 next year) and do some slight trekking along small lakes and waterfalls. There is also a small train line operating along the way for which my parents are gratfeul and my son is completely train-mad. ๐Ÿ˜

Salzburg, BTW, is one of my favourite places and we'll be visiting it (again, yaaay) in 2 weeks. We are going by train (only about 5 hours). Can't wait. ๐Ÿคฉ

Sounds like me & Kate Daniels. ๐Ÿ˜…

But these last 2 months I finally read books 7 & 8. So... I will finish eventually. ๐Ÿ˜‰

35559 That's a great thing, your daughter being in a Shakespeare play. You can be proud both of your her & yourself. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm considering buying the newly released audio version for this book.... eventually.

I'm happy with the "old" narrators: Stephen Briggs, Nigel Planer, etc, but I don't own The Truth on audio and with my us audible subscription now only the new versions are available.

35559 Not really, but yes, it could always be worse. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've been lining up some U-books since TT ended and I have a list as well (following the example of another team's captain a few years ago).

35559 Thank you Claire, Elisabeth. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Karen, very annoying about the library book! :s

I was planning on starting with a longer book: a very interesting bio about French king Louis IX, but it won't fit anywhere for "Djibouti" so it's off at the moment. ๐Ÿ˜„
This week & the next is very busy & stressful workwise, so in the end I opted for some shorter books (For Your Eyes Only: Ian Fleming and James Bond by a favourite author, Ben Macintyre, a P.G. Wodehouse shorty story & a nice PNR reread). I hope to get to my longer books the week after. I have several options, but despite being a planner most of the time, I think this time the choice will be on impulse. ๐Ÿ˜Š

35559 I have never heard about this book (not that it signifies;) but feel no curiosity, so it is safe from me & my Mount Doom. ;)

35559 I'm planning to leave mini tasks alone as much as possible, but in my experience a bit of shuffling is usually needed with spell-outs just before a Round is closing. Nothing very dramatic, tho'.

35559 Oh, no! Sorry about that, Alysa!! ๐Ÿ˜”

I'll try to do everything I can to make you all feel cherished, I promise! ๐Ÿ˜‰

35559 I kind of feel privileged that I get notifications for my own Team and E's. I just have caught notifications ok before the bug set in. But since then, I'm just stalking threads via the main thread. Super annoying.
