Thanks for checking, Julia. :)And I have added a Christmas book that has a U-series title, so I don't mind (re)reading it either way as we need Us, again, lol.
I have also added the Mini 3 Tab to the tracking sheet.
Cat wrote: "I've just finished a monster, does Domi want to spin?"Cat,
many thanks, please go ahead and do the spinning! 😊
I have added (and locked) the Round 2 tab to our tracking sheet, so if you choose round 2 and add the chosen letter code, it should work. 😊
VNerdbooks wrote: "oh, actually it does say public in the second part, I didn't make it up, I thought my menopausal brain was inserting random words again lol"In theory we are allowed to choose any holiday we like, but indeed Halloween is not a public holiday, so the "set in country where it is a public holiday" makes it a kind of dud. 😊
Besides the lovely idea of reading for Christmas, I think it may be one of the easiest to find books for, considering that this Mini challange only runs for 2 weeks. So, my first vote is for Xmas, but I wouldn't mind reading for Halloween or New Year. 😊
‼️🌋Our country for Round 2 is: VENEZUELA🌋‼️
🌋 Round 2 Tab has been added to our tracking sheet, so if you choose round 2 and add the chosen letter code on BOOKS tab, it should work. The Mini 3 Tab has also been added.
🎃🎄 Mini 3 - Holidays
NBRC's third spinning of the Wheel was a celebration of holidays. While this Wheel focused on Halloween, US Thanksgiving, and Christmas we are going to broaden our celebratory horizons for this mini.
Teams can choose any holiday they'd like. Christmas, Diwali, Lunar New Year, the options are wide open!
Once teams select their holiday, teams use a series of tasks to plan a celebratory party in honor of the holiday.
Tasks:
Setting
- Book set in a country where your holiday of choice is a public holiday
- Book with "holiday" in title or text
- Book published in the month the holiday takes place, if the holiday moves (like Ramadan or Easter) use the month it occurred in 2025
- Book where the holiday is mentioned or celebrated
- Book that mentions a venue for the celebration (dance hall, home, park, wherever you plan to host the event!)
Decorations
- Read 5 books that mention specific decorations in the text or show them on the cover your team needs to decoration the venue for the celebration
Food
- Read 5 books that mention specific food items in text or show them on the cover your team needs for the celebration menu.
Drinks
-Read 5 books that mention specific drink items in text or show them on the cover your team needs for the celebration menu.
Entertainment
- Read 5 books that mentions different entertainment options or types of music your team plans to have at the event.

And no, we cannot bank books, so I'm glad we can use it for this round. ☺️
VNerdunless your book SOS Hotel has a letter eligible for the current spell-out, we won't be able to use it I'm afraid. 😑
The Internet tells me that there is a character in there called Tom ... could you confirm, please?
Elisabeth wrote: "I’ll definitely finish my I book which I’ve added to the spellout. I’ve started one which fits J, B and T but haven’t added it in case I don’t get it done in time. It has more scope for our new wor..."Elisabeth,
your The Ladies of Missalonghi has a U character - too good a chance to miss- so I have moved it under a U-code as it seems we will need it for a new spell-out!
Claire wrote: "I will read my promised books and maybe two or three others. They will be added in time and I will do my utmost best to put everything correct.
Sorry that I’ve read less than usual but my husband..."
Thank you, Claire and no worries. Real Life is not always reading-friendly, sadly!
Smaug went away rather quickly. Here'sPunxsutawney Phil (USA)

Rebecca wrote: "Anything we should be concentrating on since we’re closing in on the end of the round? I’m hoping to get in some more audiobooks this week and I just started a chonk at 913 pages 🙄"Basically books that can fill any missing letters in a word we already started on are great! 😊
If you finish the chonk in the next round (provided it works for a letter in the new word), that'll also be just fine!
Thank you for the update, Alysa and well done on grabbing that book off your TBR-shelf. 😊Yes, the new word may be dropping tomorrow or Friday (depending on how RL is treating our Mods :).
Glad you like the LOTR references ☺️. .... which kind of makes me want to do another re-read....
I might, depending on the word we'll get.
Julia wrote: "I'm not really feeling my D book... Since we have enough of those anyways, I might not finish it and instead make sure that I get my U book read and then maybe squeeze in something short that fits ..."Sure!! There is still time to let go of unloved books and concentrate on others! 😉
I will finish my 2 U-books for sure. I'm not sure I'll be able to read one more, but never say never!
