21. Things are getting more and more dangerous at the Spring Court. What are your impressions of the Night Court? What was the message behind the head?The head is kind of creepy and definitely gives you a good idea what to expect from the Night Court. Clearly they are on the opposite "side" as Tamlin.
22. After all of the warnings not to drink faerie wine, Feyre drinks it anyway! What was she thinking?! Did it embolden her to let Tamlin kiss her? Are you okay with their first kiss happening this way?
Feyre is frustrating to me in this. I want to like her, but this and going out on the Fire Night (?) a few chapters earlier are really just dangerous and close to silly--dare I say approaching TSTL territory. I'm okay with the kiss happening this way, but I would have preferred it to have been in a slightly more romantic manner rather than "hey, I'm drunk, let's kiss."
23. The mysterious stranger has a name! What do you think of Rhys?
I found him somewhat refreshing, as at least I feel like I have a clear vision of his character and goals. He is clearly NOT a nice guy and would like to see Tamlin dead. Everyone else I feel is still kind of confusing and hidden.
24. What did you think of that love scene?! I'm having a hard time understanding why this is being marketed as YA. It feels much more adult to me.
I've been struggling with this issue for most of the book. My vibe has definitely been YA as Feyre has done some truly silly, YAish things (see above). But the love scene and even some of the thoughts about Tamiln have definitely been more adult. It just kind of throws me off, and I think there may be some parents out there a little upset at the YA marketing.
25. Feyre missed her chance to say "I love you" and is now getting settled back home. Do you think she should have fought harder to stay with Tamlin or did she make the right decision to follow his order and return home? Will she be as happy?
I hadn't thought about this much, but it does seem out of character for Feyre to actually OBEY something that Tamlin told her to do. I'm sure she will regret it and I'm sure she will be back at some point.

Discussion Questions Chapters 1-5 23 jun. 151. Have you read other books by this author? What did you think of them? I have wanted to read the Throne of Glass series, but haven’t had the time yet.
I haven't read anything by this author, but have most of the Throne of Glass series on my mountainous TBR pile.
2. What we’ve read so far makes me think about fairy tales. Feyre having to hunt for food in the dark woods made me think of Hansel and Gretel and the way she is treated by her family makes me think of Cinderella, although Feyre doesn’t act like a princess. Do you like the style of this book? Does the story make you think of fairy tales?
Like others have said, I got a Fairy Tale/Hunger Games mash up feel from the first few chapters. I think how much poverty and the hunting gave me the Katniss vibe.
I enjoy fairy tales--especially when the heroine is a little different-- and Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorites so I'm excited that this has that feel.
3. Well what Feyre has been afraid of after she shot the wolf has happened, the wolf was a faerie creature and she has to pay with her live and is going to live with the beast thing. I wonder what is going to happen to her family. Do you think they will survive fending for themselves? I’m not sure they will be able to Feyre seems to take care of everything in that household?
It seems unlikely that they will survive, but if this is truly a little bit of a take on B and the B, then I would guess at some point they will be revisited due to some emergency and maybe we will get to see how they did.
4. What is going to happen to Feyre? Anyone want to speculate? I don't want to embarrass myself by speculating, but hopefully she will be surrounded by people nicer than her family!
