35559 Grace and Megan, do you want us to post our finished books both here AND on the Books Read thread? Or just on the Books Read? I can't quite remember how it went last year.

35559 I had planned to start Angelfall and that's been on my To Read list for at least a year. So I can work on that one.

35559 Here's the link to my shelf

https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

I will be starting with Angelfall on audio and Head Over Heels in print. And I'll pick up the BOM at the end of the month.

Happy reading everyone!

I'm going to do Six of Crows--even though I baaaarely made it through Shadow and Bone--the premise sounds interesting. I'm not sure of my ability to come up with thought provoking questions--or to keep up with the reading exactly--to volunteer for questions. :)

35559 Captain and Co-Captains: After we finally get started, what info would you like us to post here when we have finished a book? Just a Title and page numbers, or would you like a link, etc?

Everyone: Where are you all from? I always like to know if I'll be awake and in the middle of the posting or if I'll wake up to catch up on a whole page of posts. :) I'm in North Carolina in the US--where it's slowly turning to winter. :(

35559 Hi Rebecca! Thanks for being willing to be a Captain!

And hello Team Athena! I am hoping for a chatty team, because the mountain of books I have to read is just not quite high enough already. :)

My get to know me questions:
1. I'm guessing 20? I usually finish about 6-7/month, but I also tend to get a weeee bit competitive in these things, so I push to read a bit more.
2. Watchers and Phantoms by Dean Koontz, The Deal, the Kate Daniels series, and pretty much anything Nalini Singh writes.
3. Rourke. That's all.

And showing my age: I know what gifs are, but no idea how to make one, Pearl Jam is my favorite band, and I cannot stand Come on Eileen as I heard it played 1 million times as a young adult. :)

I'm reading My Lady Quicksilver right now. Great series. Mixture of steampunk and vampires/werewolves.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

35559 My 2 cents:

I'm a slower reader, and while I was jealous that I couldn't just read for specific goals so that I felt like I was actually helping the team, by the end of each round most of my books had been used somewhere, and by the last 2 rounds, I just figured I had the option to read whatever I wanted instead of having to read something specific for a particular goal. Plus I loved seeing the runs of goals getting done, even if I didn't really have much to do with it. :)

I like the idea of escalating goals--easy goals for 1 point, medium goals for 2 pts etc. I don't know how much harder that would be for mods/captains, but then maybe I could find 1 book for more points and feel like I was contributing more.

I love the idea of time period or era goals. Did we have goals for cover colors? It seemed like I saw 1 or 2 of those, but it seemed like they should have popped up more often. And I have to say that I like the idea of a specific pet or animal more than the names beginning with...but that may just be because we had soooo many of them in the last round.

I had a great time, and enjoyed having 50 posts to catch up on each morning when I got up. I'm excited to play the next time. Plus the yummy pictures for each team on each round. ;)

Oh, edited to add that I loved the weapon challenge in the last round!

Finished Skipping Christmas by John Grisham
Pages: 177
Goal: Commodus goal--Amazon Top 100 for 2001

And that will be the last book for me--although I'll keep up with the thread. I have to work all day tomorrow and have a big party to go to tomorrow night. Thanks to all the Team Captains and the Mods for all their hard work. Can't wait for the next one!
Sep 25, 2015 03:28AM

35559 The main character, Garrett in The Deal celebrates a birthday during the book. Not sure if that counts for the "about to celebrate a birthday" goal, but its a big deal as he then has access to a trust fund.
Sep 24, 2015 04:37PM

35559 I just got Skipping Christmas at the library for the Amazon 2001 bestseller goal. It's short, so should be able to finish by Saturday. Sorry no links- on the phone. :)

I finished The Deal by Elle Kennedy.

Pages:358
Published February 24th 2015
ISBN13 9780994054401 (no ISBN 10 listed)

Characters: Hannah, Garret, Logan, Allie, Cass, Dex

Not a ton of other goal stuff in this one--there is a hottie on the front cover, no pets, MC are both in college.

*On another note--I say use those boons up! :)

I'm going to throw this out there again since this thread moves so fast. :) I think my last book Enclave has two swords on the cover, but so far they haven't been added to the mini challenge spreadsheet. Was it decided they were not swords, maybe?

35559 Hi everyone! I just wanted to post here as things get lost on the other thread. I finished Enclave yesterday and all the information has gotten added to the main spreadsheet, but the cover has 2 swords--and those haven't been added to the mini- challenge spreadsheet. It looks like those 2 points aren't going to make or break us, but thought I'd mention it.
