I want to cry!!! I just finished the third book in the Arcana Chronicles series
and it ended on a huge cliff hanger and the next book isn't out for another year!!!!!If I knew how to do gifs there would be one inserted 'here' with an hysterical girl tearing her hair out. Unfortunately your imagination will have to suffice, given my limited computer skills.

That's one that ST picked off my DBS for next month! :)"
Yep, that was me :) Personally I really liked it but I know others weren't so keen so I am really interested to see what you think of it Kristen since we have fairly similar tastes :)
Oooh, DBS is posted, I will have to look at who I am picking for! Also, I am starting Lick next and I can't wait since all you lovely ladies seem to love the series!

I agree Sarah, I was very happy to see her start to get her life back on track.
Oh I finished Unbeautifully today, so that should get us over the line. I haven't shelved it yet so will do so now :)

It was ok. I gave it three stars in the end but there was a while there it was going to be two stars. Personally I think there are much better books to spend your money on :)
Kristin, I just finished one of this month's BOM
, plus I did a set of DQs, so that should add 90 points to the total.
Lol, I feel your pain. I swore I wouldn't buy any more books until I got through the ones I already own, then I went and bought a whole heap more in the last couple of days... I am blaming it on the fact that my current collection of books does not fulfil the criteria I need for my current quests :)Kirsten, I've posted a couple of more books to my chickadees shelf, including one BR - it will be nice to officially reach 20,000 :)
Hell yeah, DBS is exactly what I need to help me get through books that have stagnated on my shelf. I think I will be doing it on a monthly basis :)

DQs - 13th February6. Natalie and Hannah seem more than just friends even though Hannah has a boyfriend. What are you thoughts on the relationship between Hannah and Natalie.
7. Sky has indicated that he knew May. How well do you think Sky knew May? Do you think there is a significant history there?
8. I am not sure about Sky, he seems a bit of a mystery to me. What do you think of Sky as a Laurel's love interest.
9. I haven't found myself connecting with any of the characters at this stage and feel a bit meh about all of them. Are there any characters you particuarly like or dislike and why?
10. We are 30% of the way through the book at this stage. What are you thoughts? Are you enjoying the story?

1. This is a debut book for the author and I have only some 50 pages in it, but so far the writing style and telling the story in letters to the dead people hasn't really convinced me. What are your first impressions about the writing style and the composition of the story? I'm not that fussed on the story being written through letters to dead people. Unless there is some revelation further into the book that makes it interesting, I think it is just a bit of a gimmick.
2. I feel like lately all the YA Contemporary books I have read have dealt with grief and loss of family members. In this book Laurel has lost her older sister May recently and dealing with her loss. There is something mysterious about May's death and Laurel hasn't told the whole truth to anyone yet. Do you have any idea or a guess about what could have happened to May? The only thing I could think of was suicide, but I am hoping it is something a bit more orginal than that.
3. Laurel really wants to blend in at her new school and starts to wear her dead sister's clothes. For me this was a bit crazy. I could never wear, at least knowingly, dead person's clothes. What are your thoughts about it? I think she is just trying to be close with her sister. I'm not really bothered by it, but I think she should where what makes her comfortable.
4. What do you think about the selection of dead people Laurel writes to? I find it kind of random (though, some of them are connected with her sister somehow) and as I understand this book is set in present, so some of the recipients would be odd choices for most of the contemporary teens as young as only starting the high school. I must admit I was a bit confused to start as I couldn't place in what time period this story was happening. On first glance it appeared that she was choosing people who had died tragically - drug overdose, suicide, mysterious disappearance, but then she introduced Allan Lane, who I think died of cancer at an old age, so now I have no idea what the relevance of the people are, beside their being famous.
5. If you could choose one dead celebrity or author to write a letter to, who would you choose?
I know I would be writing my letter to Jane Austen :)
I would probably want to write a letter to someone like Mary Queen of Scots to ask what life was like then for a female monarch and to tell them how much has changed since they were alive.
So many series, it feels like 80% of books these days are series. There are so many I have started that I have only read the first one and haven't had a chance to get back to.
Ok, I am all signed up for the Dusty Bookshelf challenge - I can't wait to see what books get chosen for me :)

I think Dark Desires After Duskwas my least favourite, so if you start up again, it only gets better :)
That is awesome that there is a series cliff note site, lol.
ST, I think you have just convinced me to invest in The Lies of Locke Lamora. I keep seeing it pop on people's list, so I think I need to give it a go.
