Finished the spaceship book! They spent most of the book on a spaceship that they had no idea how to operate, so it kept taking them to odd planets. Definitely fits the square!
I got back from volunteering and I'm still an hour from finishing the spaceship book -- I guess I'll go do that. The characters have been stuck on a spaceship for the past 50 pages so I think it fits perfectly! I'll come back in an hour to see if I should bank it or use it to finish our airplane.
That's what I thought too, but I asked somewhere way up in the thread and they said no, new card.I say if you have something that's perfect for the square, put it in, but don't try to stretch, and as soon as someone finishes a spaceship book let's submit. I've about 1/3 through mine, but I have to go off for my volunteer shift now.
OK, I finished White Night but I'm ready for bed so I won't finish the Spaceship book tonight either. I've volunteered to help out at our local school business day tomorrow, but I'm hoping that no one will need me in the morning. So anyone else with a space ship book is welcome to the spot, and I'll finish mine either Monday morning or afternoon, depending on how many people need to talk to me.
I've still got about half my White Night left, but I'm all done with human interaction for the day. If I finish before it's too late, I'll end with a shortie space book -- I've gotGalactic Derelict about people finding an old spaceship on Earth.
I figured you would beat me (I won't finish White Night until much later today) but I didn't want to pressure you. It would be like trying to tailgate a Formula 1 Racer :-)
The original "plan" was to only grab a spot if you thought you might finish by Sunday night. But it's still the relaxed beginning time. Shall we officially push the plan to Monday night?I figured that's why Plethera has her "upcoming" list. I should make one as well -- I've got some books that would fit the other slots, but I might not finish them for ages so I haven't put them in boxes. This is really not the kind of thing I think Sheila needs to worry about -- I think she finishes most things within 4 days or less :-).
I finished my red book and have about 350 pages of White Night left; I should get that done on Sunday. If I finish early or need to start switching I have short books about a lost spaceship and with Lord in the Title, so I'll peek to see how far along Midnight and Ang are. If they've got those well in hand I'll just read whatever looks pretty. Maybe they'll fit one of the blank spots or maybe I'll save it for our next card. Freedom!
I think we are on track to submit tomorrow, so any ideas on the next shape? I guess we should see the card first. Are we the kind of team that strategically plans the bonuses, the kind of team that cunningly figures out what boxes we can most quickly fill, or the kind of team that prides itself on doing every shape at least once during the challenge?
The Last Wish by Andpzej Sapkowski
Finished 8/20/16
Rating: 3 stars
pages: 388 (although the last 30 or so were empty)
for: Cover is Red in Bingo (Tinyeye says 85%)
Also I think I forgot to mention reading
for the last Wheelathon -- do I need to go find all the info?
I was hoping someone would fix the color; I just didn't trust myself to make them all the same color if I picked something in the middle.Beth, who is clearly not a spreadsheet guru
And I filled in the rest of our square light orange so we can still use colors to show how far along we are -- black books we are about to read, yellow books we are reading, white books we finished.I put Miranda's book in, turned it white, and then figured out it would show up better if the square's background color was not also white.... Just call me a spreadsheet guru as this only took an embarrassingly long time.
Miranda, I think I'm putting you into the spot for KEYS. Does that seem right? It's not actually part of our pattern but we get points for it. And if we accidentally fill out a different pattern first we can always switch before submitting :-).
Miranda, when thinking of Desires of the Dead,1) Would you consider it a perfect beach read?
2) Was it full of ritzy, expensive types who want the best of everything and money is no object?
3) Was it all about figuring out secrets and unlocking mysteries?
4) Did it involve a battle between two powerful but almost matched entities?
Just asking...
How about if we sign up for spots if we plan to finish the book by Sunday night? Is that too soon? The frantic pace of the past few days may be affecting my judgement.
I copied the bingo square on the spreadsheet below and colored in the airplane boxes so you can look and see if you like what comes up.
That soon? I guess we should plan. Should we start with Airplane? Ang likes the bonus, it's cute, and it's on top. And it uses "Genre with YA" and she has a book waiting to fall in that spot.
Sheila, I guess you could use the characters to link in with the theme picture.
