I just finished a book where the guy is from a species that hates potatoes, but it was more of a deal in the first one; it just gets mentioned a few times in this one. (They both have eaten the worst things to impress the other -- he ate a potato and she ate a pie with a live scorpion-thing in it).

A superfast read?
A book with someone so overconfident that they fail? (turtle and the hare fable)
A book with a child with a stuffed animal (it looks like a stuffed hare to me)?
OOOOOOhhhhh -- does anyone read the Aunt Dimity mysteries? She has a stuffed bunny she talks to. I'll put a hold on the one at the library.

He hates potatoes? Seems a bit of a stretch for the french fry square though.

Let's put in books we can finish by WEDNESDAY and see where we are.

Personally, I've got nothing, although I could finish up my gardening book for the watering can guy.

I got in my trouble with my family for not writing a thank you note to my aunt for hosting my dad's memorial. We moved it to her town and all my siblings and I moved heaven and earth to travel to them to make it easy for them to attend, and then paid for everything with little input on what to do (which really bothered my sister), and somehow I was the bad guy.

I say for the new board we put in the banked books that a lot of us have and see if we are close to any pattern.
If we are going for aesthetic Field Goal is lovely.
I like the idea of getting them all, I have to say. I think we'll have to be speedy, though.

We're planning to pre-feed the shark for this board, but in general it's always nice to have a back-up for a spot.

I finished my "world" book, which is a 2 - pointer. My replacement five would also be 2 points, instead of 4 like Carmen's.
My dad and I listened to Holes while driving cross-country. At first he was miffed that I had brought a "kids' book for us to listen to, but then he got interested and we had to bring the audio book inside to finish off after we arrived. Isn't it great when our families like our books :-)

World of Ptaavs by Larry Niven
Finished: 8.27.16
Rating: 4 Stars
Paperback: 188 pages
Has "world" in title

The page point breakdowns are pretty steep:
Points
• 10 Points per Square submitted
• Page Points:
• 2 Points - 100-299 pages
• 4 Points - 300-499 pages
• 6 Points - 500-799 pages
• 8 Points - 800+ pages
• 15 Points per submitted pattern (new card generated)
So Plethora's 400+book would be 4 points, but I might as well do my 188 page book as the 250 page one. So I'll have my world book done in a few hours, and if Plethora finishes hers before we are ready to submit she can swap 'em for more money.
Ang and Sallie should decide who gets the "the" square. I put them both in in case one book moved to a different square, but I think that was wistful thinking.
Tomorrow looks very doable! Maybe tonight!

The Mislaid Magician: or Ten Years After by Patricia Wrede & Caroline Steverner
Rating: 4 stars
Finished: 8/26/16
E-book, 330 (close enough this time!)
Published in 2006

I'll try to read it tonight while Moonlight is reading the P book and Unquiet.

Does my theory as "!" as a character make sense to you guys? Am I reaching too far?

I haven't read the James Patterson books, but I thought they were akin to the Alex Rider books, which were pretty much one shocker after another. Alex is trapped on the roof! Alex instantly becomes an expert tightrope walker! But the bad guys cut the rope!
