I just finished Dark Witch which has lots of idioms in it. Shall I put it in for Plethora's book on card 18 so we can submit that card? Tomorrow I can pick up a minister book for card 19. Tonight I could read Rachael Ray's Big Orange Book: Her Biggest Ever Collection of All-New 30-Minute Meals Plus Kosher Meals, Meals for One, Veggie Dinners, Holiday Favorites, and Much More! for the homophone with Raise book, which would free up Carmen to concentrate on her chunkster.
I found a ray's book -- how about that? Tomorrow I can pick up a book with a minister as the protag for the religious one.

For the grammar card -- single letter in title
I finished H is for Hawk, and I'm not sure what to read next. I could start on the religious card, or I could back someone up whose book is going slower than expected. Carmen, I've got an easy T book if you want me to finish the STRAW card tomorrow, so you can work on your giant book for the league and the RAZE book for the grammar one.
Sheila, I'd say idiom card. We won't need Level 11 until we've got levels 9 and 10 sorted. Idiom card should take just about anything so we could do it quickly.

Card 15 - Starts with "A"
I finished my series book and my book for STRAW. Tomorrow I'll work on the next card.Shall we plan to have cards 15 and 16 done by the end of Monday?
Well, there are murky grammarian waters around prepositions used outside of prepositional phrases (ADVERBS - yes or no? first blood wins), and I think there's definitely some controversy over "of" as a conjunction. But there is absolutely no doubt that "and" is a conjunction and "of" is a preposition, so why not play it safe? I'm happy now :-) (And Erin, I meant "of" not "to" in my note -- no wonder it didn't make sense).
Er, grammar nerd comment here. I think Plethora's title (under preposition for card 16) should be in the conjunction spot, and Erin's card (under conjunction for card 16) should be in the preposition spot. But I'm not at my computer so I don't want to try switching them (I tend to lose things while attempting cut & pasting on PCs instead of my Mac).
Yeah, it's hard to imagine a book without an idiom, we just have to remember to mark them as we go through. I say let's alternate Warrior level up, then weapon level up. We just leveled up the warrior, so let's finish Weapon Level 8 next. That means a 4 (Beth doing Bone Crossed), a 6 (Sheila's on that with The Drowning), and an 8 (Erin's Wolf Island). Will all those probably be finished today?
Then back to churning out XP. We need 29 XP points to get to the next level. Carmen and I are on the line for the STRAW card; I'm at 60% with that one so should also finish soon. The other cards are more works in progress, which makes sense.
That's our goals for the day -- Weapon 8, STRAW, then other cards until we level up. Card 18 is really any 5 books, and and 20 looks pretty straightforward.
Woot! Next level is in view! (the top three cards will level us, but I'm hoping we see some more monsters on the way!)
The cards give XP points, and we get points for having higher XP (it's one of the best ways to get points). We also get potions, which we can use, or which give us points if they are left over (it actually looks like it makes sense to have potions instead of gold, because you get more points for unused potions than for leftover gold, although I should probably double check that). We get more points for a higher weapon level as well. The best way to level up = win points would be to ruthless plow through cards, which would mean discarding ones that take more than a few days. BUT, as a team, i think we have more fun accomplishing all the tasks rather than giving up (remember how we did all the things in BATTLESHIP?). So I like our strategy even though we might slip a little in the standings. But we should concentrate on finishing cards -- I think we spread ourselves out a bit too much instead of doing one and then going on to the next.
Monster cards we should do immediately, or the next day at the latest. They are a fast way to get XP, and holding onto them means losing the whole advantage of a monster card (fast turnover).

I would like to turn in 12 as soon as Moonlight or someone else finishes book 1 (gold book or book with gold as currency). I will put down the #4 series book and read Marvels tonight (as Ang suggested) to make this happen.
Sheila, I was going to read series books to up our weapon level, so if you want to grab my Thyme book (it's another Wittig, so your library should have it) I won't mind. Otherwise I'll get to it when I need a break from the series. I think I found another cozy mystery series at the library that I should be able to power through to get us to level 8 weapon. Thanks for doing the switch Carmen. I figured it should be easier to find a farm/ranch book but I wanted someone to commit to it because Card 12 is worth a lot more than that mushroom one.

Yes, I'll be done later today. I've been meaning to read it since Christmas!
