Carols and Chaos by Cindy Anstey
A lady's maid and a valet become entangled in a yuletide counterfeiting scheme in this romantic Christmas YA adventure.
1817. The happy chaos of the Yuletide season has descended upon the country estate of Shackleford Park in full force, but lady's maid Kate Darby barely has the time to notice. Between her household duties, caring for her ailing mother, and saving up money to someday own a dress shop, her hands are quite full. Matt Harlow is also rather busy. He's performing double-duty, acting as valet for both of the Steeple brothers, two of the estate's holiday guests.
Falling in love would be a disaster for either of them. But staving off their feelings for each other becomes the least of their problems when a devious counterfeiting scheme reaches the gates of Shackleford Park, and Kate and Matt are unwittingly swept up in the intrigue. Full of sweetness, charm, and holiday shenanigans, Carols and Chaos is perfect for fans of Jane Austen and Downton Abbey.
So I ended up being a lot busier today than I expected, so I won't get any more books done for Cobweb. Sorry about that!
Judith wrote: "Okay, I'll put Melanie down for cover and MPG to start. I'm looking for title now."Ok, cool. I'll pick those two books up first to knock the bonuses out of the way early.
Outside of at least the first book in the Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega series, there are a few others I'd like to get to. I'll be a bit busier next week than I was this week though, so I don't know that I'll get to all of these. I definitely want to get to the first two though since they're over 500 pages and worth 60 points each.
Judith wrote: "Since we are close to starting week 2, do people have books that will work for the werewolf bonuses:1- word in text
2- MPG/top shelf
3- on cover
4- in title
plurals are acceptable"
One of the first books I'll be reading (or re-reading in this case) is Moon Called which will definitely fit for MPG and word in text. I'll also be picking up Cry Wolf which works for MPG, word in text, and on cover. So you can put me down for one of those depending on which ones others in the team can cover.
Thank god these books have such extensive casts as that's where I'll be meeting the letters in our word.
I'll probably finish at least one more book for this spelling either tonight or tomorrow morning. Then my plan is to start my first werewolf book mid-afternoon tomorrow and finish it sometime later that night after the start of week 2.A couple of the books I plan to read for week 2 are just over 500 pages, so I want to get a bit of an early start on those.
Completion PostBook: The Fairy Tale Bride
Author: Kelly McClymer
Date: 11/1/18
Pages: 288
Letters: O (series name - Once Upon a Wedding), W (character last name - Simon Watterly)
Samantha wrote: "Awesome! We just finished our 5th spelling! :) I think we should at least be able to get 1 more if anyone can find an O book.. haha"I'll be picking up The Fairy Tale Bride today and the series starts with an O, so the O book is covered if no one else gets to one.
Completion PostBook: Beauty and the Clockwork Beast
Author: Nancy Campbell Allen
Date: 10/31/18
Pages: 318
Letters: B (title), C (character first name - Candice), E (character first name - Eustace)
OK, my next read is Beauty and the Clockwork Beast as I need to bring it back to the library on Friday.Unless I find any characters that work, I think it only works for B. I'm not sure if I can use the C from the Campbell part of Nancy Campbell Allen as I don't know if Campbell is a middle name or a second last name.
Completion PostBook: Her Halloween Treat
Author: Tiffany Reisz
Date: 10/31/18
Pages: 218
Letters: C (character first name - Chris)
The next book I'll be picking up tomorrow is Her Halloween Treat which only works for C as far as I can tell. It seems like the perfect Halloween read so I was definitely going to be picking it up, but I'm glad it fits into the challenge for at least one letter.
Alright I don't think I'll get to any more books tonight or tomorrow, so I'm calling October done. After having a terrible few months, I had a great month this month and got to 20 Netgalley books.Start of month:

When I checked the sheet, my most recent book was logged at 210 pages when it should be 310. Just want to make sure we get the correct amount of points.
