We just obviously wouldn't get completion points..."Don't we only get the extra 15 completion points the first time we spell the word? I didn't think we got them every time we spelled the word.
I have books that will work for every letter, so I can read whatever. My goal is to try and read one book per day, so I should end up completing the entire word at least once. Or I can always read multiples of a specific letter if it's needed.A few options I'm considering are below.
I know for sure that my first read will be The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken. This one has cobwebs in the text, so we can knock that challenge out the first day.
Judith wrote: "I'm going to read one of the stupid looking books found for the genre of 'cobwebs' because I'm a great captain and don't want to torture any of you. ..."Thank you for taking that bullet for us! I had a look and none of the ones where it was on the first page sounded particularly good so I was hoping someone else would grab this one.

I was planning to read The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken as my first book and if the plural cobwebs is ok, then that book has it several times in the text according to Amazon's Look Inside search.
Samantha wrote: "Yes, I think if you finish the book after 5p EST you should be fine."Ok, thanks for confirming. I won't start the first book until after the official start time as I tend to read books in one sitting. I just wanted to check since with different time zones for me the official start time is 5pm EST.
Alright so I have a question in regards to when I can read my first book.So the countdown clock for the challenge is set to 10pm Lisbon time which is 5 hours ahead of me. Does that mean if I read a book after 5pm my time (EST) on the 27th, that book can count for the challenge?
Countdown clock from the challenge update thread I'm talking about.

Samantha wrote: "...So I checked genres and apparently there are no books tagged as "cobweb" :(..."Does the plural cobwebs count for this? If so, there are books shelved under that.

I'm sure for some of those it shows up on the first page of shelves for the book.
That's awesome, I definitely have a few ARCs that will fit the first word. I'm a librarian so I'll usually fix any issues with books I'm reading when I start the book. And I can definitely help others fix page counts as needed during the challenge.
We're open! *throws confetti* This is the first team challenge I've participated in and I'm very excited for it. I think the Nightmare Before Christmas aspect swayed me to join as it's one of my favorite movies.I'm excited to start planning out books that will fit the first word. I do have one question, can we read ARCs for this challenge? I get books via Nergalley, so I wanted to check if it was ok to use them so long as they fit into the spell it out.
Yay team Doctor Finkelstein! I can't wait for this challenge to start, it's my first team challenge.

I signed up, I can't wait! I fell into a massive slump in September (only read 4 books), so this challenge is the perfect thing to get me reading a lot more.
Ok, I don't think I'll manage to get to another book tonight so in August I added 7 and read 9. That's a win in my book since my overall number went down. Next month I'm hoping to chip away at my backlog more since I only have 3 September books to read.Start of month:

Well I failed abysmally this month. I've been in a massive slump since late May which has been terrible for my Netgalley books. Here's hoping I can turn things around in August.Start of month:

is on my shelf but I have no way of leaving feedback of any kind. It’s weird. And I read and reviewed the book so I’d like to be able to post it."That's so strange. I have that book on my shelves as well but the button to give feedback is there for me.
Well I added more than I wanted to this month, but my shelf count went down by 2 and my ratio up by 3%, so overall still a good month.Start of month:
