I just finished - this was a really quick book to listen to!

Wow! (view spoiler)[ While I was reading the letters between Pat and Nikki I did wonder if Tiffany was writing them. And poor Pat when he found out the truth about them and then gets mugged! But I'm so glad he found Danny!

I really like how things unfolded at the end, with Pat remembering things and then meeting with Tiffany. My favorite character is still Dr. Patel!! (hide spoiler)]

He's living up to the stereotype of BMOC. Didn't even admit to Finlay he had a big ego and it was required for athletes or something like that?

I just started this book (I'm listening to the audio version.) I'm up to Ch 14. I never saw the movie and had no idea it was about mental health issues.

I'm interested to find out more about what happened (view spoiler)[between Pat and Nikki that he ended up in a mental hospital. His obsession with her and references to 'apart time' is so heartbreaking. (hide spoiler)]

His narration sounds like he's still (view spoiler)[ on some pretty heavy meds. I admire his mom for getting him home and I'm sad his dad is not supportive. (hide spoiler)]

I love Dr. Patel!

Regarding Tiffany (view spoiler)[ Like Mary mentioned above, it's surprising that their friends and family are trying to fix Pat and Tiffany up. I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. (hide spoiler)]

@Emma - I listened to the audiobook - there are several different narrators and the one by John Lee was really good!

I'm enjoying it okay - it's just these types of questions that pop into my head when I'm reading! :-)

I'm at 25%. A couple of things I'm finding a bit hard to believe -
(view spoiler)[ First of all, that no one on the team knows who Finlay is or what her last name is. Young people find things out and are huge gossips!! Along that same line, Finlay is at the sorority party with her roomie. Sabrina knows Finlay works for the football team, and I'm sure she knows her sorority sister is dating the QB, but has never mentioned it? And then Finlay hears Caden setting up a sorority party for his teammates with his girlfriend, and she's surprised when that's the party she ends up at? Or that Sabrina didn't know more about it? This is why I don't do a lot of buddy reads outside of challenges. 🙄 I over-analyze everything!

It's so rewarding when you get done with these biggies, Emma! I read The Count of Monte Cristo and, although it took me a month because I read other things in between, it felt so good when I was done. It was even better that it was a great book! Read on, girl!

I don't read many YA books (mostly just for challenges and buddy reads 😊.) So far this book is okay. Your observations about the MC's are good. I'm wondering why Finlay (view spoiler)[ has taken this job with the football team? It seems to cause her more grief. I can't decide if she's trying to honor her brother by attending the school he was going to and being on "his" team in some manner? Or if she's getting paid to go and that's the only way she can go to college. (hide spoiler)]

Caden - (view spoiler)[ I like him too, despite his cockiness. And it's making more sense why Finlay hates him so much - he has her brother's position and what she witnessed after the funeral (whether she had the right context or not we don't know yet. (hide spoiler)]

I''m just getting started. I haven't read the first book or seen the TV show.

Anyway, we're discussing things in the background, and since what we have in store is so good, we're thinking about adding a couple weeks more to the challenge.

Also, the resident little hobbit had this awesome idea to create a Durmstrang Institute and Beauxbatons Academy of Magic teams, just for TriWizards in order to allow for reserves to experience a bit of the magic.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! It's finally cooling down a bit - only in the mid-90's, which is kinda normal for summer here. I went to see the documentary on Mr Rogers yesterday - Won't You Be My Neighbor?. It's really good!

We're doing great with our spells and classes:

Divination - we need two more ARCs. They are worth 20 points each, which is pretty valuable, so if anyone has access to an ARC please help us out!

Herbology - we need one book with dirt on the cover (and I think Linda has this covered???)

Spells - We have 44 more letters to fill and 39 books, so we should be fine here. We are waiting to see what the Tri-Wizard tournament looks like before filling in the rest of the letters. I don't think there are any specific letters we need to read for right now. If that changes I'll let you all know.

We're still waiting on info for the Tri-Wizard tournament. We've got just over 3 weeks left and you guys have been doing great. Keep it up and don't forget about the extra points we get from Buddy Reads!
