Review: I loved every 2nd of Cora and Rome's story. From the moment she douses him with beer on Independence Day to the very end.
It's a story of a man who doesn't know what to do with himself after becoming a civilian again, and realizing the people he's always protected doesn't need him the same anymore, all while dealing with his feelings over a family secret.
It's the story of a woman who has been emotionally hurt so severely that she refuses to put her heart on the line ever again. So much so that she may miss what's right in front of her face.
It takes a drunken night for one of the two to make them confront the obvious attraction brewing between them. An attraction that spans more than just the physical.
It's also a story about a makeshift family who will do anything to make sure each member is happy.

Review: I hadn't read a book in this series in quite a while, but Nalini Singh has such of way of writing the worlds she's building and the characters in them that I didn't feel like I forgot anything along the way. She cleverly reminded me without rehashing the entire story.
I love learning more about Jason and see him slowly come to care about someone outside of the cadre. I knew it would take someone who could accept him for who is without expecting him to change. And no one deserved the love and protection he had to give more than Mihaya. That poor girl deserved love like no other.
The mystery of what happened in Neha's court wasn't a mystery at all. I figured that out before it was solved, but it was still a journey to watch Jason at work while seeing him fall for Mihaya while she helped him.
All of this while not leaving out the other characters we know and have come to love.

Review: This started off a bit slow for me and all the talk of how Ivy felt for Rafe all felt forced.
Once she got the set of the reality show she was undercover at things slowly, but surely started to get interesting.
I thought I knew who the culprit was several different times, but ALL of my guesses were wrong. Helen Harper completely pulled the wool (no pun intended) over my eyes.
I can't imagine what Ivy will get into next.

Review: I have a love/slight dislike relationship with this series.
I love Merit, Ethan, and the gang, but sometimes the political part of being a vampire in this series and the romance of Ethan and Merit are not balanced well for me.
I know urban fantasy doesn't necessarily have romance, but this one has a relationship that has developed over the course of this series between the core characters. I don't think it would bother me much if he stopped calling her Sentinel all the freaking time. Everyone calls her by her title so much, when that is not done with the other characters in this book. No one goes around calling Ethan, Master or Gabe, Alpha (or whatever his other position is).
The role of Sentinel outweighs Merit as a character at times. I would love for Merit just to be Merit for a bit in one of these books.
I am loving the relationships that have been building between the Weres and the Vampires. It's a relationship that has been frowned upon before Merit, Ethan, Gabe made inroads to change it.
Every book has a new and interesting villain for our heroes to fight against, and more species of supernatural entities continue to come into the light.

Review: Veritas and Ian are now my favorite couple in the Night Huntress Universe.
The love they have for another is all across the pages of this book. I absolutely love that.
This book picks up where the one before left off and it starts with a bang. Phanes turns out to be worse than I expected from our first meeting of him in book 2.
Old friends, new family and new allies (who were once enemies) have to join to forces to defeat an enemy no one saw coming. And what a battle it turned out to be.
The book did not end in a cliffhanger as the other books in the series have done, and I was completely satisfied with were Veritas and Ian's story ended.
At the end of the day, these novels are filled with our heroes fighting for the the greater good, and loving along the way.
Now, I hope I get stories for Ashael, Marie, and Katie if no one else.

Review: Sullivan Quinn (goes by Quinn) is intrigued by Cassidy Poe before he sets eyes on her. Her scent leads him on a chase, and once they actually meet it doesn't go as planned.
Still, there is no denying the attraction, so when they are tasked to work together that quickly heats up more.
As a couple they face challenges since they are from different shift types. Her grandma is against her mating with anyone, but a human (or anyone she deems lower than them), and his family has always mated with lupine shifters.
This time it's too bad. Her scent driving him crazy means more than he wants to admit, but he really doesn't have a choice and everyone else will just have to bite it.
Overall I liked this story, but I assumed that there was going to be more intrigue considering what they were searching for

Review: I love how this book was able to really focus on Vishous. His past and his present. All while not leaving the other characters out.
J.R Ward has done something with this series that I realize I've come to love. That thing is building a world where every character is a part of every aspect of the story. She has done in her paranormal books what Robyn Carr has done with her small town romances (i.e Virgin River) and Nalini Singh has done in her paranormal series as well.
We get a core couple or core main character (Vishous & Jane), but the book still has the overall story that continues to make the world (and people) they live in feel real.
So many things I wondered about V were answered in this book, while continuing John Matthew's story, and leading the way for Fhury's story (or maybe love interest).
I love the fact that with all the other things going on their wasn't much of the fighting with the lessors in this book. If I had known that prior to reading I may have had my doubts, but as it stands it was the perfect way for this book to progress. All the other revelations and explanations were enough to fill the pages and keep the reader engrossed.
The only thing I disliked, though it didn't take anything away from the story is (view spoiler) ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Week 3 ~ Series to Finish
Book: War by Laura Thalassa

Finished: 03/29
Rating: 4 stars
Review: Miriam finds herself face to face with the 2nd horseman, War, and instead of killing her he spares her. This lead them on the journey of their lives. With actual lives lost along the way.
The actual journey goes from Jerusalem to Egypt and beyond. No one is safe from War's duty.
The journey Miriam Elmahdy and War takes in their tumultuous relationship is fascinating to witness. War has claimed Miriam as his wife and Miriam is having none of that. He is destroying human life, while she wants to save it.
Talk about a love/hate relationship. This is the true definition of enemies to lovers.
Although Miriam refuses to accept War's claim, she also has an undeniable attraction and connection to him.
What do you do when you start to have feelings for someone who is the epitome of everything you despise?
When it was all said and done, I had a hard time disliking War. Once he encounters Miriam he gives his all, the best way he knows how, to their relationship. It was hard not to love him even though he was killing humanity along the way.

Review: Ulyssa became a survivor out of necessity and those skills do her justice in her job as an agent.
Kirill just became king of his people after the untimely death of his father. He's vowed to never take a mate, but he wasn't expecting Ulyssa. Their connection is instant, although they both claim to not want to be tied down to one person for differing reasons. They just can't deny a connection this strong.
The story is rife with misunderstandings between the hero and heroine that a simple conversation would have solved, but I guess you can't really talk when there is not a full measure of trust.
If you think that this is just about these two strong-willed people bumping heads and falling in love along the way, then you'll be wrong. The former king left a mess that these lovelies have to figure out how to clean up before the entire planet is destroyed.
