Review: I was nervous about reading this because I wasn't sure that Devney Perry was going to be able to make me sympathize with Sofia after her atrocious behavior in Logan and Thea's book, but boy was I wrong.
From the start I wanted to job in those pages and kick her family member's asses. I could totally see why she behaved the way she did. That all changes once she gets a reality check, well they actually started changing before then, but more drastically after that.
She ends up in Lark Cove, and it pissed me off that she was being judged before Dakota got to know her, so he annoyed me right off the back, but that quickly changed.
The pacing in this story was spot on, so even though they had immediate chemistry the progression of their story didn't feel rushed.

Review: Not sure about the seductive night world part of the description. Nothing seductive about a night world where the supernatural are thought of as monsters, even by other supernatural beings.
In the beginning I didn't think I was going to like this story, but once I got past the first two chapters I had a hard time putting it down.
I liked the chemistry between Emily and Colin. Right for the start you can tell these two would have an explosive connection.
Added to that the story with the murderer was really well thought out, so well that I didn't realize who it could be almost until the end.
What I felt it was lacking: More explanation of how Emily got her abilities, more info on how interspecies mating works (since I get the feeling that no one will be mating with a person in the same species during this series, but I could be wrong), and more explanations about the species origins.

Review: I loved Augusta "Gus" Allan. She was super feisty, which is my favorite kind of heroine.
The story was okay. I believe I've been spoiled by the other books that Layla Frost have written that I've read so far, that this one didn't completely live up to those. It felt a bit forced, but not enough for me to not enjoy what was happening.
The one thing I wished that would have been different is either go somewhere with the dickweed (you'll know who I'm talking about once you read the story) by making him act on his threats then be defeated, or not mention him at all after the first scene. He was mentioned enough by being the catalyst to bringing Gus and Nox together.
Also, I would have liked to see Nox admit to having a part in that particular situation to begin with.

Shelf #6 - Alpha Male
Book: Until Jax by Aurora Rose Reynolds
# of pgs: 242
Finished: 04/29

Review: I liked this but there were some moments that confused me. Elle mentioned a woman coming to their table at the restaurant, and the same woman coming to Jax's house like she had the right. The woman in question was Melissa.
The thing is she had already "met" Melissa when she went to her job interview. Also we didn't see that restaurant scene at that time, but there was a scene like that later in the book.
I listened to this on audio, so maybe something got mixed up along the way. I don't know.
Regardless of this I liked Ellie and Jax, and am having a fun time catching up with the older generation from The Until series.

Review: What I have always loved about this series is the world building. Nalini Singh has a world that seems so real, that I am left wondering if there are really any Psy/Changelings for real. I also love the common theme of harmony among the different races.
Love is love not matter how you look at it. That is always shown in this world.
Here we have Bowen, who I have been waiting on pins and needles to read about, and Kaia. Kaia is a changeling and Bowen human. She doesn't trust him as far as she can throw him due to some things that happened in her past to do with humans, and info from a friend to do with Bowen in particular.
Still.... she feels a connection to him. And he to her.
The progression of there relationship was fast, but it didn't feel rushed due to the circumstances and the instant chemistry.
I will say that I thought i knew what was happening, and who the bad guy was gonna turn out to be, and I was partially right, but boy did Ms. Singh surprise the crap out of me.

Review: I had mixed feelings before going into this book based on reviews that I've read, I was glad to see that it wasn't bad like I was kinda expecting.
I have a love/dislike relationship with some of KA's books, so I wasn't sure.
I liked getting to know Abel while he was coming into his own, and he and Delilah were getting to know one another (and falling in love.)
There seemed to be a lot more sex in this book than the others in this series, not that I'm complaining, just making an observation.
Of course since this is the culmination of The Three trying to stop the rebellion and the life of human kind as they know it, we got the rest of the gang from the previous books: Lucien/Leah, Callum/Sonia, Gregor/Yuri. It was great seeing them all. I kept wondering would Yuri get a mate of his own in another book, until I got my answer here. I have to say that I liked that answer. I didn't like him when he was first introduced, but he grew on me.
I have to say that there are some unexpected casualties, but it wouldn't have seemed like a real battle if the good guys came out of this unscathed. The final battle was done in the most unexpected way possible. But that's KA for you. She can be full of surprises.

Will start my Alpha Male book tomorrow
May have to change my sci fi book because the library still hasn't gotten it in.

Review:
I remember why I wait so long in between reading these books. I tend to get sucked in when I have a ton of other things to do in RL.
I was so glad to see Mac, Jada/Dani, Barrons, and the game all over again. The growth in character and world building is so realistic that I have to make sure that we are not actually suffering the atrocities that our Heroes are having to deal with.
KMM has the amazing ability to make me think I have to check my own reality.

I am totally sucking this round.

Review: It's so hard to really review K.A's books sometimes. I love her so much, but there are times when I am frustrated beyond belief. She has the uncanny ability to make me fall in love with characters then have them do something to annoy me. At the same time the thing is annoying me and I'm asking myself why is this happening, the character will turn around and ask themselves the same or something similar. When that happens I can't stay annoyed because I realize that in her genius she knew that readers would question certain things, so she had the character question it too.
(I hope that makes sense to anyone reading this, because it mad perfect sense in my head.)
Anyway, I liked this story. It's just like any other K.A book: alpha male, quirky heroine, some vile ex or other character, with the addition of a genie.
I was looking forward to the magical aspect, but it actually didn't play a huge role. This entire story could have taken place with Fazire just being a family friend. Lily could have still met Nate, and all the drama could have still unfolded, then been resolved the same way.

Sorry. I got my book from the list. I guess I just missed the vampire part.
