Well, I started this late last night and then stayed up all night finishing it. I couldn't put it down. I really needed to know how it all ended. I will say that there was a reason for the whole thunderbird storyline in the last book (and it was the reason I was hoping for). So Shift wasn't nearly as pointless as it seemed. There was lots of fighting and deaths (view spoiler). The allies that the South Central Pride have been collecting and the, not necessarily allies, but just people/weres that they treated with respect, through the series all banded together to help out our beleaguered heroes in the end. The end is my major complaint though. It was very abrupt. This is a big-ish book (472 pages), especially compared to the rest of the series. So for as long as the book was you would expect a more complete story. But there was too much sitting around and not enough action. Too much love-triangle angst (just choose one already Miss FaytheWaffle; everyone knows who she's gonna choose between Jace and Marc, so why drag it out till nearly the last page?) All that angsty-ness could have been spent in a more satisfying final battle and a more complete ending.

for the dark fantasy shelf.
I'm in. I've been trying to avoid starting new series as much as possible in the last several months and have made a concentrated effort to finish some of the many, many series I've started sooooo this will help me be organized about it I hope.

This wasn't my favorite book of the series. Don't get me wrong, it was still pretty good. But it just seemed abrupt, I guess. That isn't quite the word I'm searching for. I guess maybe it just didn't seem to advance the story much. The few things that happened in this book could have easily been in another book without adding many pages. Basically the only things important were (view spoiler). That's it, three things that happened in the whole book. The rest was pretty much just filler as far as I can tell. Good filler, but still just filler.

Great book. I enjoy this series. The only reason this one didn't get 5 stars was because it wasn't my favorite of the series. I really liked Lore and his multifaceted character, but Idess was meh. I do like it when the heroines can fight as well as the heroes and this series delivers a lot of those. I'm looking forward to Sin's story.

Stupid book made me cry. (view spoiler). I was at work crying! Granted, I was on break, but still. Anyway, otherwise an excellent book. I'm liking the series and the characters more as we continue into the series. It's quickly ramping up to a climax for the last two books, with the potential werecat war. Book lost a half star, (view spoiler). Probably should lose a whole star for that, it definitely disappointed me. I like seeing Faythe have a bit more self awareness as the series goes on; maybe she could use that to stop getting into trouble and stop acting before thinking. I will be reading the next book soon, hopefully a shelf will be called that it will fit on.
