Oh my GAWD! Great book. I know it's great because I want to read it again already (and that is a rare, rare feeling for me). I didn't read the synopsis before starting it, so there was some confusion at the beginning (it was free or else really cheap when I got it and I had seen rave reviews around Goodreads for it so I bought it on a whim). Great characters. Wonderful story telling and prose. Only negative was the cliffhanger-y ending. Seriously. I had only a couple of chapters left when my lunch break ended so I was reading surreptitiously on my phone on the job. When it ended I actually yelled (don't worry, it's loud where I work), "That's it! That's how it ends! What the *bleeeeep*!" I'm hoping the next book (or later ones) will explain more why the angels are going nuts. Having to wait till November is going to kill me!

New dystopian book:

Aliens book: (most likely)

I'm going to go pick something now.
ETA: Actually I just remembered that

It ended better then it began. It actually started (and remained so for the better part of the book) slow and kind of boring. The action didn't pick up till about halfway through. The author put a lot of detail into describing surroundings and actions, but I thought the characters were fairly one dimensional. Nothing about the main character (Azalea) stood out to me. The secondary characters were more fleshed out than Azalea. I'm more of a character-driven reader and this book didn't deliver on that account. Only the fact that I LOVE fairy tale retellings saved this for me. And I've never read a retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses, so thumbs up for that. It did improve a lot towards the end when there was finally enough action to make up for the so-so characters.

LOVED IT! Admittedly, at first I was less than thrilled about the addition of another pantheon (the Sumerians) to the Dark Hunter world. Between the Greek pantheon, Atlantean pantheon, the Were-hunters, the Dream-hunters, etc, it's a lot of mythologies to keep track of. And to a degree I still think that it was mostly an unnecessary addition. But I just loved Katra (always have) and Sin was a good hero for her. I'm embarrassed to admit that until this book, (view spoiler) . After two fairly blah Dark Hunter books, I'm glad to enjoy this one so much. I was worried that I was starting to burn out on them.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

BOOORRRRRIIIIINNNNNGGGG. That about sums it up. I didn't really find either Ravyn or Susan all that compelling. Susan was just this side of TSTL. Seriously. She nearly got Ravyn killed because she insisted on coming along on a mission and got captured by the bad guys. Plot holes galore. Storylines completely dropped. Honestly, I just wasn't all that thrilled with it.

I'm still working on my freebie book after which I'll start my strong heroines book. I just started a new shift/job this week that's keeping me busy. It is the same shift I had previously (a year ago) that I'm going back to, to be the supervisor. I forgot how busy this shift is and how much it wears you out. Anyway, I'll get cracking on these two books. Definitely will finish both by or during this weekend in anticipation of Judithe calling our winning shelf. LOL

I actually enjoyed this probably more than 4 stars worth. It was... cute. Well, cute isn't really the right word, since it actually had some pretty serious themes and situations (drug use, gangs, a fairly serious beating, etc.). But the hero/heroine are teens so I just think, "Awww. Aren't they cute as they fall in love?" I know that makes me a bit condescending perhaps, but I can't help it. They were just adorable while falling for each other.
To be honest I think I like the plot of the previous book, Perfect Chemistry a little better than Rules of Attraction. Which is why it only gets 4 stars. I liked Alex from that book more than Carlos in Rules, but I liked Kiara in Rules more than Brittney from Perfect Chemistry. So I guess it balances pretty well.
I'm eager to read Alex and Carlos' younger brother's book soon.
