33903 I'm about 2/3's done with my shifter book. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it by sometime tomorrow. My S book should also be a pretty quick read. I'm perpetually behind. I am not usually as busy as I've been lately. It's like the fates don't want me to read for Bingo. LOL

33903 I'll be reading Secret Life of a Vampire (Love at Stake, #6) by Kerrelyn Sparks by Kerrelyn Sparks for the "S" book.

33903 Night Broken (Mercy Thompson, #8) by Patricia Briggs
Shelf: Favorites
Date finished: 03/24/15
Stars: 5 stars

Love this series so much! Like I can't think of anything to say other than LOVE IT!

But seriously, I enjoyed Adam and Mercy's relationship and loved how Adam's ex-wife's presence added a little tension to their relationship, but he still was firmly in Mercy's camp.

New character, Gary, is a welcome and somewhat comical addition. I'm hoping he sticks around for more books.

Very interesting storyline. I'll say this, Patricia Briggs seems to have pretty unique plots. (view spoiler)

Bring on the next in the series! Can't wait.

33903 Sorry I'm a bit behind. I underestimated how busy I'd be this past week or so. I'm nearly done with Night Broken. Hopefully I'll finish and post a review tonight.
Mar 18, 2015 05:25PM

33903 I'm starting Night Broken probably tonight or tomorrow (I've got a ton of stuff to do, so I'll try to do some reading before bed).

Shifter book is going to be The Dragon Who Loved Me (Dragon Kin, #5) by G.A. Aiken .

33903 With All My Soul (Soul Screamers, #7) by Rachel Vincent
Shelf: Paranormal Romance
Finished: 03/18/15
Stars: 5 stars

This was a great ending to this series. I'm happy with how it ended. I was surprised at how the conflict was resolved; it was slightly shocking to me. I did shed a little tear when the story was being wrapped up and it showed everyone in their (hopefully) happily ever afters. The only negative (not enough to bring down my stars though) is that Kaylee is too much of a martyr sometimes and can be too impulsive/quick to act. But in the end it all worked out (view spoiler). Sad to see the series end, but I'm glad it ended before getting too ridiculous and long.

33903 Jane Bites Back (Jane Fairfax, #1) by Michael Thomas Ford
Shelf: Green/Teal
Finished: 03/15/15
Stars: 4 stars

Fun book about Jane Austen as a vampire living in present times. It had a little mystery/suspense to it that was brief and easily resolved. I can't decide if I wished it was longer or if I'm glad it was concise. I about got severely annoyed by the open ending until I realized it was the first in a series. While I liked this book well enough, I'm not sure I'm interested enough in continuing with the series.

33903 I've finished my green book. I'll review it soon. I've already started my paranormal romance book and got Night Broken in the mail so I can start that as soon as I finish With All My Soul. Both of these last two books are written by authors I tend to read fast so I should be caught up completely by next shelf call if I'm lucky. :-)

33903 Ooh. This shelf is gonna have lots of choices. I'm leaning towards With All My Soul (Soul Screamers, #7) by Rachel Vincent , but may change my mind when it comes time to read it.

I'm getting through my green book (Jane Bites Back). Amazon has still not shipped Night Broken for the favorites shelf and I'm getting annoyed. If it's not here by the time I finish my green book I'll pick something else. Luckily if it does get here I usually read the Mercy Thompson books in about a day.

33903 No Mercy (Were-Hunter, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Shelf: Demons
Date read: 03/04/15
Stars: 4

The Dark Hunter books are usually either hit or miss with me, and luckily this one leaned more towards the hit side. It took me awhile to warm up to the main characters and it also kinda had a slow start.
I've mentioned it in other reviews of books in this series, but Kenyon's mythology is getting too complicated. I have a lot of trouble keeping it all straight. IMO, as much as I love me some Dark Hunters, it's time to put this series to rest (I say this knowing there's already several more books out there).

33903 Ok I picked a definitely green book. I'll read Jane Bites Back (Jane Fairfax, #1) by Michael Thomas Ford for the green/teal shelf.

33903 Jane Bites Back (Jane Fairfax, #1) by Michael Thomas Ford Enough green?

And we can use other covers of a book right? Even German covers? LOL.
Mar 04, 2015 05:47PM

33903 I'm done with my demon book. I'll post a review tomorrow I hope.

Is this The Dragon Who Loved Me (Dragon Kin, #5) by G.A. Aiken green or teal enough?

Great review Steph Ann. 2 thumbs up!

I'm almost finished with my demons book. Less than 20 pages to go I'd say. I'm having to order my favorites book. So it'll be a week or two with that.

Haha! I've done reading on my iPad and dropped it on my face when dozing off. Those things are heavy so it would of course hurt my nose. LOL

I am going to have to order Night Broken from Amazon. I thought I had bought it recently but I think that I'm thinking of the previous Mercy Thompson book. So I'll get started on No Mercy next.

33903 Sunshine by Robin McKinley

Shelf: Free Space
Finished: 02/27/15
Stars: 3 stars

I was a bit disappointed in this book. I'd heard it was amazing, but it fell flat with me. I think I just did not care for the author's style of writing. Maybe too much thinking and description and not enough action? I was left confused at times; possibly I was reading too fast, but also I had to reread sentences constantly, because the author would start a sentence, then halfway through it would go off on a tangent, before returning to the original sentence and the tangent was so long that I'd forgotten the first part. I have too short an attention span for this nonsense. LOL. I noticed this less as the book went on, so I either got used to it or it stopped.
The ending was a non-ending, kinda open ended. If I didn't know better, I'd say there was a sequel. But there's not, to the best of my knowledge. And even if there was, I likely wouldn't read it.

33903 Yeah, I'm not a fan of the longer shifts. We rotate weekends and on weekends there's only 2 shifts, day and night, instead of 3, so to make up those longer weekend hours we work fewer days but longer shifts during the week. Toward the end of this six days I was sleeping 9+ hours a night (instead of the usual 7 or so). I'd get home, eat something, watch about 30 minutes of TV, go to bed intending to read my book and fall asleep after about 3 pages.

33903 Just finished my 6 days of 10 and 11 hour shifts. I have 2 days to get as much reading done as possible before I go out of town to see my fam for the weekend. Working on my free space book. I couldn't find my copy of Night Broken, so I am hoping I actually have it. I'd hate to have to switch it to another book.

Demons book will (tentatively) be: No Mercy (Were-Hunter, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon .
Feb 18, 2015 06:24PM

33903 Ok, I hate to do this, but I'm gonna use Night Broken (Mercy Thompson, #8) by Patricia Briggs as my favorite shelf book instead of free space, since it's one of my favorite series. And for my free space I'm going to read Sunshine by Robin McKinley , which is on the Best of stand alone novels list.

33903 For my free space, I'll read Night Broken (Mercy Thompson, #8) by Patricia Briggs from the group bookshelf.
