33903 Thanks all. She will be ok. Just time and distractions are needed.

I don't usually plan out my books, but there are a few categories I don't usually read (sci-fi for example), so I need to make sure I have something for those shelves. That way if I don't, I can start looking for something, JIC. KWIM?

33903 Yes! I'm off tomorrow so I'm going to make sure I've got at least one book to read for each category.

I'm going to be busy for the next couple of weeks. After my days off Wednesday and Thursday, I'm working for 6 days in a row, then I have a long weekend that I'm using to go see my brother and my new niece. So I'm probably gonna start off behind a bit, but I'll get caught up after that.

Now I'm headed to my best friend's house. She just had a rough breakup with her boyfriend, so I'm bringing her pizza and alcohol and have a girl's night since we are both off tomorrow.

33903 It's 3PM my time so I'll probably still be at work when shelves are called.

I like Dial 1 for Winners too. :-)

33903 It's 26 degrees F here so I probably sound like a whiner to any one in the northern US. LOL. It is expected to drop to a low of 10 in the morning. To be fair though, we hit 9 last winter which broke some records temp-wise. So we aren't used to very cold weather here. Most of winter is in the 30's and 40's.

So today I'm wishing I was with Belinda in Australia.

Any ideas for team name? I'm so uncreative.
And volunteers for team captain? I've done it before, but I haven't played for several rounds so unless no one else wants to I'd rather sit this one out in order to get a feel for the game again.

33903 Hello team! Hope everyone is having a good day. I'm in central Arkansas and it's cold and icy/slushy outside. Yuck.

33903 double post grrr

Every time I use the app on my iPad or iPhone to post it does a double post. So annoying.

33903 Ok, I'm in. I've missed being an active member of this group for the past year or so. Maybe this will help me get back into the swing of things.
33903 Well, I've been gone awhile, but I might just join in this time around. Have to think on it.
33903 Good grief, what happened while I was gone? I've been slammed the last couple of weeks so haven't been around much and it appears Goodreads is imploding now??? Yikes.

Anyway, I opened a booklikes account, although there's nothing on it yet. Here it is if anyone wants to follow me: http://crystals.booklikes.com/. I'll probably go through this list and follow others as time allows. I will probably still be around here though as long as all y'all great people are.

33903 I highly recommend Sherrilyn Kenyon. Dawn is right, Bingo coincided with some stinkers in the series reading challenge, but most of them are pretty good.

Here's a link to the challenge: 2013 Year of the Dark Hunter.

Had fun playing with y'all. Can't believe we got 4 stamps in a row right away and still lost! LOL. See ya next round!

33903 As far as I can tell the games isn't over so here's another review.

Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #4) by Chloe Neill
Shelf: Paranormals/paranormal mix
Finished: 08/08/13
★★★★

What. The. *bleeeeep*! It's been a looooong time since the end of a book has shocked me quite as much as this one did. Major major spoilers for me to go into any detail though. Just know I was completely blind-sided.

Otherwise, another great book in the series. Why do all the male characters have to be hot?!? LOL, I kind of have crushes on all of them. One storyline seemingly dropped off into a black hole somewhere, but perhaps it is meant be picked up in later books. I'll most likely continue with the series.

33903 In case it's needed.

Upon the Midnight Clear (Dream-Hunters, #2; Dark-Hunter, #13) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Shelf: Supernatural
Finished: 08/03/13
★★

Honestly, these Dream Hunter books are boring as all get out. This one was only slightly better than The Dream Hunter. Too much talking, not enough action. The conflict was resolved in a somewhat interesting way, although I either misread or there was a lot of stuff not shown, just talked about after the fact??? (view spoiler) The font was HUGE, which irritated me at first, because I felt like I was cheated (a novella masquerading as a novel?), but in the end I was thankful, seeing as it was a bit of a snooze.

33903 NOOOOOO! LOL, well in case team 14 doesn't get their books read by next Saturday, I'll be reading Hard Bitten by Chloe Neill for the supernatural shelf and Out of Control by Shannon McKenna for the tortured hero shelf.
Aug 03, 2013 04:08PM

33903 Apparently can't edit on the goodreads app! LOL. Excuse my errors above.
Aug 03, 2013 04:07PM

33903 I posted my angels and demons book several days ago. Not sure what post number since I'm on my phone but it was 7 days ago.

I've finished my supernatural mix book. Will add review tonight when I get home. Supernatural book will depend on what shelf is called tonight. The book I want to read is also on the shifters shelf so of that's called I'll read it for THAT shelf instead.

33903 I'll decide what to read for this shelf after I finish my paranormal mix book.

33903 My Soul to Steal (Soul Screamers, #4) by Rachel Vincent
Shelf: Angels and Demons
Finished: 07/26/13
★★★★

I really enjoy this series. It hasn't gone wrong yet. 4 or 5 stars for every book so far. In this one Kaylee's jealousy and indecisiveness about her relationship with Nash got a smidge on the tedious side. I'm hoping the plot of this one continues into the next books, because otherwise the "bad situation" was solved too easily. I see a love triangle developing (I think) that I hadn't noticed before this book. I find it definitely intriguing and unlike most triangles I kind of want to see where this is going. Interesting new characters in Sabine and Alec. Really looking forward to the rest of this series.

33903 The Bond That Ties Us (Eternal Bond, #1) by Christine d'Abo
Shelf: Aliens
Finished: 07/23/13
★★

How about some disclaimers first. Here goes:

A. As I stated when this shelf was called, I'm not much a fan of sci-fi or alien books.
B. I have to be in the right mood to read erotica, otherwise I get irritated at all the rampant sex.

So, between those two issues I'm probably being too overly harsh with my rating. I read the 2nd book in this series first and rated it 5 stars. So I fully expected to enjoy this one too. But there was too much sex getting in the way of what could have been a really interesting and fun plot if it was fully developed. Not that it was one of those erotica's without a plot; it DID have one. It was just kind of surface-y. No detail to it. We barely got to know our characters in depth at all. Overall, it was just kind of blah.

33903 I finished my aliens book. I'll write a review tonight when I get home from work or tomorrow morning before work.
Jul 20, 2013 04:24PM

33903 I'll be reading either Upon the Midnight Clear (Dream-Hunters, #2; Dark-Hunter, #13) by Sherrilyn Kenyon or Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris for this shelf.
