Naomi turned to Derey and stared her in the eye. "Gabriel's going to die." she took out a marble stone and threw it to the side of them. It transformed into a stone turtle. "That is, unless he gets to the capital." she pointed in the opposite direction from the mountains. "That's where Taylor and the others are right now. It may not look it but the stone turtle can move very fast. She will get him there in time. After that Gabriel will be in Taylor's hands." She lifted Gabriel onto the turtle's back. "I'm going to the tomb, at the top of the mountain." She paused, "Well? Get on the turtle."

The dark cloaked figure stood at the edge of the cliff staring out at the spiders. They swarmed beneath him, desperately trying to claw their way up the cliff-side. He put one gloved hand to his forehead. What had the fluter called him? Aigus? Who was that? What was that? Who was he? What was he? It doesn't matter, said a little voice in his head. All that matters is the annoying white butterfly that dared defy me.

Gabriel's eyes fluttered open, "Naomi, the bloodstone."
Naomi went pale and swore. "You've got to get to the tomb. Now." Naomi's face hardened and she nodded. She turned around and started to walk dragging Derey behind her.

Naomi had composed herself again, "You've forgotten what I told you already? Taylor is an essence user. In fact she is a very good one. Unfortunately you know what state she's in right now."

Naomi put her hand to her right eye as if it were burning. "You don't understand. The wound isn't what's killing him is the dark essence. The only way he'll ever survive is if we find someone who can use essences."

"This is. . .dark magic. I've seen this before. This is how they." Her hand started to quiver. "Died."

Naomi sighed with annoyance, "Just what trouble has this dim-wit gotten himself into this time?" She knelt beside Gabriel examining the wound.

A thin white hand caught her foot and held it in place raising it so Derey fell. "Now just what. . ." Derey looked up into a veiled face. "Were you trying to do to me?" Naomi said.

Gabriel gripped her hand hard, "You must get out of here Derey. You have to find Naomi. You have to tell her. . .the bloodstone. . .is coming."
Behind Derey a hand suddenly came down on her shoulder.

Then the light reached the door. Gabriel, white as a sheet stood in the doorway. In one hand he clutch the flute, in the other. . . blood streamed from between his fingers as he clutched his arm. "Run. . ." He said weakly before he collapsed.

There was a creak and the door started to open.

A little later music drifted up to Derey. The fire crackled and then there was silence. A Dizzy spell hit Derey. She glanced at the fire. All that was left was embers.

((Curious. . .go and see.))

Gabriel rushed around the cabin. Swiping up almost everything in sight and stuffing it into his pack. Then he rushed out with the flute in hand. Yelling behind him, "Be back later!"

He shook his head. "Twilight is the most dangerous time. Once we get inside we'll need to take shelter at this time too. Even I wouldn't stand a chance."
That night. . .

Okay.

He shivered and looked to the mountain. "We have to move quickly. We leave tomorrow."

((This is elsewhere.)) :)

In a stony tomb inky blackness surrounded a motionless body. Then the dark-silver hair started to quiver and a black gloved hand reached for a black staff. He rose breathing in the dark fumes. Then his eyes opened, icy, cold, and emotionless eyes. "It has begun." Chuckled a deep echoing voice. "Let destruction reign upon those who defied!"
