Naomi looked up into the sky. "This isn't good for Gabriel. It could mean real trouble for him if the weather gets bad."

The flute rested on the table beside the bed on which she had lain. She was in a small wooden cabin with a fireplace at the back. At the front was a door. She heard a faint thumping sound coming from outside it.

When she woke up the air was warm and she could hear the crackle of a fire. She was inside a cabin and light from the sun shone in from the window.

A sharp whistle sounded through the trees and the spider stopped it's approach. By now Derey was almost completely numb and a drowsiness had overtaken her. The whistle sounded again and the spider scurried back into it's hiding place. As sleep overtook her the last thing she saw was a figure above her.

((Don't worry this is part of the test.))

The spider was well out of distance and the swing whooshed by. The needle shot from it's mouth and hit her in the arm. Slowly little by little her body went numb and immobile. In the first few seconds her arm, shoulder and half of her face stilled. By the time thirty seconds had passed all of the feeling in her left side was gone.

It opened it's mouth, a dark interior showing and a long needle slid out.

The giant spider's eight eyes blinked silently and it moved closer.

Naomi folded her arms,"Aren't you heading to the other side of the mountain to wait for Derey? There are some dangerous things out here you know. I'm here to make sure you get there in one piece, and besides I need to wait for her too."

((P.S. How do you snatch a branch with one hand?))

Naomi stopped for a moment and glanced at Ethan. "Are you okay?"

Derey's hand was connected to a very long thin strand of sticky thread. Though it was thin it was strong and no matter how hard she pulled it refused to detached from her hand. She looked up following the line. A pattern anyone would recognize painted itself before her. She was connected to a very sticky, very strong, giant spiderweb. Half a dozen bright eyes gleamed in the darkness, peering down to the ground.

(I have int for like a day or two then I'll be gone again for the rest of the week.)

That's when Derey's hand struck something wet. . .and sticky.

((um I'm not going to be commenting after Sunday for about 2 weeks because I won't be able to get Internet. So no one think I lost interest and just stopped commenting.))

Derey went farther and farther into the mountains. It grew dark and cold and a sense of irie touched her. The worst thing was the silence. Not a single sound rang out from hills. There were no signs of life. The air was thick with a sense of dread hanging in the air. The farther Derey walked the colder and wetter the very air around her seemed to become.

Back where the others were. Naomi looked irksomely at Ethan. "Well are going to stand there all day or do you plan to walk to the other side of the mountain." quietly she said, "Aren't you wondering why I didn't try to test you too?"

Naomi paused and nodded. She motioned to the mountains behind them, "Go to the peak of those mountains. Search for a man called Gabriel. He'll tell you what to do." she motioned to Derey's hand, "But you have to do it without your stone. I don't care if you leave it with one of the others or give it to me. You have to prove that you can do this without outside help." she turned away but stopped and turned back. "Give Gabriel this." She pulled out an old flute. "He'll know what do with it." She turned to the others. "It's not just her being tested. If you get a stone, you'll be tested. Both ways." She gave a little smile then turned back to her mount. Mounting it she said, "I'll be waiting for you on the other side of the mountain." She whispered a spell and Taylor's body rose and floated to land on the stone turtle. She looked grimly at her and then turned back to them, "Good Luck." As the turtle moved on it's way she whispered softly to herself so that the words barely even reached her own ears, "If you have it you'll fail."

Naomi's eyes grew thoughtful, "All right, if you can I'll teach the lot of you all I know." She leaned forward an air of foreboding surrounding her, "But if you can't you have to promise that you and all your companions have to leave." Her eyes were dead set, "Right after."

Naomi stood solidly, "Child, you may hold a stone but you have no clue what your up against when it comes to Belenos an those who surround him. Did you know that the red giant you faced was once one of the stone holders?" she said with a contorted face. "That's what happens to those who loose their souls to him. They become his everlasting puppets. They become his power."

((by the way. To get Naomi off your back you need to do something that will prove to her that you will be worth training. She knows the most(other than Belenos, and perhaps more than him)about the evil that wants to take the stones. Also since she is the diamond user she knows the most collective knowledge about all the stones. The diamond stone is a stone of clearness, emptiness, so she can absorb others powers and knows how to block them. Her knowledge about the stones would take the stone holders to new heights.))

Naomi put her face inches from Dereys, "You don't stand a chance of winning the way you are. You'd die in spirit if not in body, like her." Naomi nodded towards Taylor. "The only reason she survived was because of her power. Her power was essences. So instead of dying like she was supposed to she was able to put her essence into that shard of stone." Naomi gripped her staff, "When it comes to the Bloodstone few survive."

Naomi's eyes flushed with anger. "Do you want to end up like her!" she shouted. "She was lucky! The others that faced what she faced ended up dead! Not in a coma!" Naomi shook with anger. "He's taken his first stone. The longer you're here with the stones the more chance he has of rising again." She placed her hand over her eyes and, it shook a little. "I don't want to watch people die again."

Naomi took it from her. Her eyes widened when she saw Taylor. She turned to Derey and the others, "You children need to leave, now."
