Rather-Fellow sighed, "Gabriel is just too kind, not telling you about this. . . I haven't been in that infernal rock this whole time Derey. Gabriel couldn't hold them alone so he summoned me. While he moved and hid the cabin we hid in a small cave up in the left side mountains. When. . .when you were out they came to attack us. It was an ambush. He was with them. While I was distracted he attacked you. He was very very close to killing you. He had the power of Sapphire, the power that effects physical natures. He had a fire of death that he was going to plunge into you. If Gabriel hadn't stopped him at the last moment. . .he would have killed you."

Rather-Fellow shook his head slowly. He seemed to know something, it showed in his eyes.

"Friends don't lead their friend's enemies to their hidey holes, and they certainly don't then light it up on fire." Rather-Fellow said unconvinced.

Rather-Fellow scowled, "no offense sister but he lit this place up like a birthday cake. I saw it myself."

The gnome muttered again, "Reread the sentence that he left the message in. He specifically left it in the sentence talking about Naomi being gone too long. Didn't you notice. When you rescued him he fully expected Naomi to be with you." He stopped, "I question whether we should listen to him at all." he muttered.

The Goblin/Gnome/? turned to her and looked her dead in the eye, "Flip it."

The gnome started to grumble again. "You said the note said ENOLAOG, right? I think I know what it said." he finally grumbled again.

As soon as Gabriel had left the room suddenly two eyes appeared in the darkness. The old gnome inside the stone appeared. "Not that one! Ah can't you remember!" He said looking annoyed. "Aigus' tomb is the small-fry. She went with one of the guardians who watches the Myst's ruins where he was sealed. This stuff is kind of important! Even to a chaos-gnome like me!"

Gabriel paused. "I haven't heard of any other tombs other than the one in the spider forest." He went silent for a moment and said, "In any case I need to prepare for us to move." He stood up and left the room.

"Is there anything that you can tell me. Someone she went with? Something she took, anything."

"Where was she heading? Do you know?"

Soon Gabriel appeared. "Derey. We're going to have to leave some time. Whether tomorrow or later, it'll have to be soon. Either the capital or somewhere else. Actually something has been bothering me ever since we read Driden's note. Just where is Naomi? She'd be long back by now and she'd definitely be here if she knew what happened.

Soon it grew cold and night fell.

Gabriel thought slowly as he cooked. So many things were happening. Driden's betrayal, the complete ruin of Naomi, and all the guardian's sacred place and he knew it wouldn't stop there. Things were going to be dangerous around here from now on. He'd been able to camouflage them but if they came back he didn't know how long he could hold it. Another serious question being posed right now was, Where was Naomi? She'd been gone for too long. Naomi would have never left a novice stone holder alone, she was simply too suspicious. Too careful for that matter. A simple check on the ruins, even if there were tremors shouldn't have taken this long.

Gabriel seemed to understand this and so left her in the room to give her time to think and recuperate. In the other room, soon Derey could hear him cooking.

He was silent for a moment, "I can't change what he's done Derey, but know this. No matter what, I'll always be there for you."

Gabriel hugged her tightly. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so blunt. I'm sorry." He picked her up and brought her back into the cabin. "I'm sorry." he whispered one last time.

She stared out through the doorway. The cabin had been moved up into the mountains and as far as the eye could see around them everything was ash to ash. In the distance she could still see things smoldering. The beauty that these mountains had once possessed had been scorched to a dusty ruin. Nothing around them was recognizable. "These mountains are impossible to get to by foot and no one previously knew where Naomi's base was before. Yet two days ago, while you were still sleeping, 3 of the controlled previous guardians showed up here and destroyed everything. I used my flute to track back the power that brought them here and it was the Sapphire stone's power. The power that Driden manifested when he was little but refused ever to use, until now."

He motioned her to the outside.

Gabriel turned from her and said quietly, "There's something else also."
