I will freely admit that Anita Blake is what got me started on my UF love. A classmate recommended the books to me and I was hooked. We parted ways when it became more about her harem, but I do have some fondness for the initial books in that series.
I don't know what my damage is, but I just love assassins. Please explain to me why I can't get over them?Does anyone else have a similar fixation?

They have left their mark on the romance genre. Feel free to post your thoughts. What are some books that wouldn't meet any strict classifications, but seem to have impacted the romance genre.
Please include a link and tell us why you listed them.
@S, I know what you mean. I have nothing against a capable heroine, but I love when the hero still wants to protect her regardless.

I see your point about Fifty Shades of Grey as well. We don't know how enduring it will be, but it has definitely had a mark on the genre.

I see what you mean. I think that it would be going outside the genre too much to add Interview With the Vampire, since it's not a romance, but I can see why you suggested it.

Thanks! I agreed with the choice, but it's good to hear why you nominated it.
