Can I just take an ereader? Ha!

Welcome and hello to Yagmur and Jennifer! I hope that you enjoy the group!

Thanks for the link Lesa! The first time that I read this book, I was too young to understand the true story. After understanding the RR, the story is more interesting. I must say after reading 1984, this past January, I will be interested to read this one again.
Andrea wrote: "My kids LOVED L of the R G W! I liked it too. Since then Andrew's book "Mandy" has bee on my TBR list..."I had no idea that she wrote more! Still amazes me that she is Mary Poppins!

Hello and welcome to the group Jennifer! I hope that you enjoy it!

I have a suggestion for this one. How about
The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles. Another one of my childhood favorites!

This is our group read in July.

I got the idea for this topic from Andrea, so thank you! What five books(classic or not) would you have with you if you were stranded on a desert island?

Hello and welcome to the group Gulhina! I hope that you enjoy it!

I can't wait to start this as well. Trying to be good and wait until July 1st, rather like waiting to open Christmas gifts!

HaHa! That is quite clever! Thank you for that!

Hello and welcome to the group Somdutta! I hope that you enjoy it!

My French is rusty and my edition does not have a translation in it. What does the song that Caderousse was singing mean?
"Tous les mechants sont beuveurs d'eau;
C'est bien prouve par le deluge."

This is what I love about book groups! Someone can give you ideas on books and authors that you have never even heard of. Maybe, in the next few months, we could do a buddy read of Balzac? He seems like one that could benefit from a buddy read!

Yeah, I think that it came out this last weekend and is #1 for the weekend.

Thank you! I will look him up at the library!

Quick question, has anyone read anything by
Honore De Balzac? I was watching The Music Man on TV and his name was mentioned and I wondered what his stories were like.

Discussions for the chapters 101- the end of the novel.
