It is really odd, I have read pretty much nothing that Lisa Kleypas has written that was not very entertaining but I have started
Seduce Me at Sunrise 3 times and it is not a bad book or anything but it just can't seem to catch my attention and I always close it and find something else to read. I am at the 40% mark and been forcing myself to keep reading but I am going to move on again but it just seems strange that I can't even put my finger on the problem with it (or me) :)

Well I get on kicks of certain type stories and read them, I have read 3 "Cinderella" type stories recently and they were good but the last one is the only one that I can give 5 Stars to it was
The Duke's Secret Cinderella . I have read several of Eva Devon books and this is the second 5 Star novel of hers since
The Spinster and the Rake is still one of the better historical romance novels I have read. I will have to write a glowing review of this outstanding Cinderella story tomorrow since I have stayed up WAY past my bedtime to finish it :)

Well I finished
Sweep of the Heart and really enjoyed it but was a tad bit disappointed in the ending but overall it was pretty much a 5 Star story

I just wanted to say I am about 60% through
The Heretic Royal and loving it but anyone who has not read the DragonKin books may have a problem since even with that knowledge it can get confusing. It is ultra-violent and highly humorous and I can already see I will hate for it to end.

A lot of it is like watching the three stooges - it's slapstick. The books make me laugh and it..."I think that is a pretty good description :)
LoveYourShelf (LAB☺) wrote: "I like the honey badgers probably cuz they're so freaking violent, lol"That is an understatement LOL

Either I love them (like Gwenvael the dragon's book) Or I find them to be "too much" and can't finish the book (some of the honey badger books)."While you need to enjoy a bit of insanity to love the Dragonkin and the Blacksmith Queen (Scarred Earth) even I who have read everything she writes must say you need a large dose of insanity to really enjoy the Honey Badger stories and even then some of it still falls flat

Reading
The Heretic Royal and loving it but you have to enjoy a bit of insanity to appreciate her books :)

Well just for information to everyone
How the Wallflower was Won was almost a waste of time, it had high points but at the end the story which was based on complete fantasy IMHO and possibly the worst couple I have read about in years managed to get 3 Stars from me mainly because it has a decent if not noteworthy ending. When you get to a point where you are hoping it will end soon that does not bode well but it was not so bad I would DNF it. I have to think she was under a deadline because for 2 people who were not sure if they liked each other much less loved each other they managed to tie up an extraordinary number of pages with their sexual exploits which added very little to the story but probably added enough pages to the book to keep it from being a novella.
DemetraP wrote: "I had a bunch of started but did not finish books. I went back and re-read Hunter by Kerrigan Byrne. I love this book. Both main characters are so great. It's hard for me to find historical romance..."The Hunter is still my favorite of all her novels (I have read them all), it is one of those that sticks with you for many years, then again not many books start out with the H hired to kill the h :)

OK, I just finished
The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy and I am trying to decide if I should give it 5 Stars, it really was excellent but a slow starter. As far as I can tell it is a stand-alone and I might be a wee bit surprised if there is a sequel since the story seems to be complete (and excellent). Thanks to whoever recommended it

I am about half way through
The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy and it has been a bit of a slow slog but interesting until it became an almost exact retelling of the movie "You Got Mail". Hopefully it will get back to an actual story and romance along with some harrowing parts I am sure of at some point.

@Vanessa - " I don't have a group of friends who read for fun." Same here and I find that a bit sad that so many people don't read for entertainment. Kept me smiling through some stressful times in years past.

Well we got kicked off of Amazon about 5+ years ago and I have no idea how long I had been on the Amazon forum before that and for whatever reason many did not follow us over here
I was glad one did not, she hated me for reasons I never did understand LOL

Well I should have gone to the store like I was supposed to but I sat down for "just a minute" and even though I have hundreds of books in my TBR (maybe over 1000) I think I am going to HAVE to buy this, last book of the trilogy was released 2 days ago . I think I should do drugs, it would be a cheaper addiction

I grabbed "After the Bite" - Lynsay Sands while I was waiting for feedback since I could guess it would be decent at worst :) So far not bad but I think I will grab Hart and Mercy next. Just not in the mood for Patricia Briggs and her Mercy universe quite yet.

OK, I am looking for a really good book and all these probably fill that description but curious to hear what you folks think would be the best to read in my mood of a bit of a reading slump. Normally Patricia Briggs would be an automatic winner but everything I have read sounds like a rehash of previous plots.
Raven Unveiled
Grace Draven
How the Wallflower Was Won
Eva Leigh
After the Bite
Lynsay Sands
The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy
Megan Bannen
Soul Taken
Patricia Briggs

Well I guess the 1000+ books in my TBR was not enough so I grabbed this even though I think the target audience was teenage girls but I am a sucker for fairytale retellings if they are done well so I grabbed this from NetGalley

The Earl and the Spinster was one of the better historical romances I have read in a long time. Reading the second book now and it looks good as well so far. in book 1 she went so far into how destitute and poor they were I was getting depressed before things took a turn for the better LOL
