222868 That is gross.. a friend of my sisters who lives in Asia was really sick and losing weight was rushed to hospital. She is a vegetarian and apparently had picked up a tapeworm egg in her travels probably from eating unwashed greens. They had to operate to remove and then put her on antibiotics. Absolutely horrible.

222868 It sounds really good Vanessa. I'll try and get to it shortly and let you know.

222868 Thanks for the rec for the St Mary's books, they look like something I'd like so I'm going to try the first one .

I've got that one just downloaded too, Lulu. I still really like this series/spin off and hope to get to that book soon.

Wow Waverly, thanks for sharing that. I'm sure there are ups and downs... but it sounds amazing for a group of book lovers like we all are. My most surreal book experience was going to the Bronte Parsonage and seeing the table where Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre were written and walking those Moors. I'll never forget that.

How fantastic Carol. It's a beautiful country... and the men are so charming, LOL.

222868 Sounds great Waverley. Did you love Veronica Speedwell and Stoker? One of my favourite new ( sort of) couples I've discovered also through this thread this year.

222868 Hi Shannon, I'm still a big fan of the BDB.

In the Legacy spin off series, it's more like the original books, centring the story on the new recruits and not so many POV's and other storylines as the series proper. More paranormal romance.

In the series proper, there is ongoing storyline and quite a few POV's and switching between although I think she has refined the technique so it flows a lot better. There are new couples finding their HEA over several books and then a re-visit with an existing couple to see how life is going after the HEA.

I still and have always loved them... but if you lost interest or had issues before I'm not sure you will love them again. But you could always give one a try.

222868 Hello Lulu. Good to see you back here. Seems we have lost a few regular posters since the transition to Goodreads. Thanks for the Sentinel Wars update... I just had a clean up and gave away all my paperbacks to a school garage sale. I don't know if I will pick up this series again, I'll see what the feedback is.

PS Thanks for the heads up on The Hanover Square Affair. Seeing it's free I decided to try it. Sounds good.

222868 Not to be on a Nalini Singh bashing but I noticed a lot of phrases in describing a hero or heroine similar to, ... the woman who was his heart or the man who was her life.. her reason for breathing, existing . Yes, I know it's romance but it felt to me very over the top. But I fully own it's my changing tastes, nothing wrong with her writing.

222868 Standing up for a nice, juicy cliffhanger here.. BUT as long as the resolution isn't years in the making.

LAB, understand what you mean about Nalini Singh's style of writing, heavy on the adjectives, metaphors and generally gushy in the emotional descriptions. What I loved in the earlier Psy-Changelings series does grate a little when I read the later books. But to be fair my tastes have moved away from this style to more romance as the secondary theme. She is a bit lighter in the Archangel books or maybe there is more story to distract me there.

222868 I've finally got to this one Grave Ransom (Alex Craft, #5) by Kalayna Price . Like this series athough sometimes because I've read it over quite a few years I forget the details.

I just checked.. apparently another book is due out April 2019 - Grave Destiny (Alex Craft, #6) by Kalayna Price . Sounds like it might be the final one.

222868 Aww.. cute.

I know what you mean about the names. My third grandchild has a name I hated at first but he is such a sweet boy and the shortening suits him I've gotten over it.

222868 Any news on the grand child front, Douglas?

I find particularly reading romantic suspense too many sexy times interferes with the plot too much. Who would have thunk it, LOL.

222868 Good luck with the new grand child, Douglas. Hope all goes well for your daughter and a safe delivery.

We've got No 4 grand child due in September. I looked after Master 4, Miss 3 and Master 1 last week.. and I needed a day off to recuperate after, LOL.

222868 Thanks LAB. I even got the freebie in Australia which is great.

I'll read the prequel before I decide if I buy the whole first book. J R Ward is usually quite expensive, although I still buy the BDB in hardcover.

I liked but didn't love her Bourbon Kings series, and that reminds me I haven't read the last one yet.

222868 Not PNR, but I'd thought I'd mention it because quite a few of us enjoy historical romance.
