201765 I’m running a sponsored product ad. That’s what it’s called.
May 17, 2018 03:19AM

201765 Ad options not as options. I can’t edit on the phone.
May 17, 2018 03:19AM

201765 I need to switch to that. I’m doing an automatic version of the first of the three as options. Naturally, I can’t remember what it’s called. I’ve gone from 6 impressions to 132 over night and no clicks. If I’m honest I’d be shocked to get clicks. But we’ll see.

That sounds painful. Mine isn't painful. I hope your daughter's isn't.

Thank you Carmel. I sometimes worry about my lack of filter! I think it fell off a few years ago. The replacement only appears to have a 'say what you really mean' setting.

201765 I suspect you are outbid which is why you aren't showing up. The example in the AMS video showed someone choosing 75p as a bid. I've got 10p. I'm not expecting much.

So does it tell you which keyword generates impressions? I've looked at the report for yesterday and nothing is listed. Or am I doing that too soon? I should wait for the book I suppose.

201765 FIVE. FIVE impressions. lol
May 16, 2018 07:56AM

201765 Thanks Carmel. I'll give it a time to 'warm up' and then see about changing the manual with a truck-load of keywords. At the moment after a day I've got a stonking 4 impressions and obviously no clicks at that number of impressions. At least at this rate I won't run out of money :-)

My book on how to do all this should arrive tonight.

You're not the only person I've read who has reported a decline in sales in recent years. I feel I missed the boat having not published until 2016. I have never had sales amount to more than a few quid and a loss of hundreds of pounds overall when you take into account promotions, covers and editing software I have bought. But like you, I'll plod on.

201765 OK here's another one. I'm aiming for thought-provoking. It shouldn't be horrendous.

201765 Well, I get half a dozen people reading mine and I’d say 5 out of 6 are in this group lol. It’s a start. And I’m not comfortable writing articles about writing. I can never word them to my satisfaction. I’m just writing something that may or may not be a good idea.

201765 Yeah I think that’s it.

To be paid you need to be in the partner program but you don’t need to be a paying member. Only claps from payment members lead to payment. I think I also read that they take into account other interaction with the articles like comments and the time spent reading it. All clapping helps whether from paying members or not as it could help build a following.

I wish I knew how to be a person who makes 1000 a month. I currently get just under £20 lol

201765 He’ll be great. He’s very amusing.

201765 I hope he gets lots of claps.

Thank you Judy. It isn't pleasant, is it? I hope your daughter doesn't suffer as much.

201765 Carmel wrote: "When I started the sponsored products with keywords, I started getting some sales. But I've also heard, and read, that you do better with tons of keywords, like hundreds. My current ad has over 400 keywords."

So is that the manual setting of a sponsored products ad but with a ton of your own keywords added? I'll have to think some up. Hundreds? Crikey.
