I know. It was just for show. Can you tell me if the colour of the blue box is distorted? I don't trust my eyes. It looks like it is to me.
OK that's interesting. Thanks for that, Alex. I'm not saying I'm using this, but I really did knock this up in a few minutes. I can't speak to the quality of the graphics because my eyes are still struggling. (Personally I'm not a fan of the layout, this was just to show even I could do it.)
@ CL-I have yet to find readers discerning or otherwise. I have author readers for which I'm eternally grateful. 50 characters though. That's not a lot to play with. I'll leave it a while or maybe put another one up. I have to decide what to use my 50 characters for on the ad.@Alex-I also like a freebie, like a loyalty card that gives me one free coffee in every 9. I wouldn't expect to go into the coffee shop and have a free coffee every time. Oh we know the argument. I have the same issue with my day job.
And something has to be permanently free to take advantage of the society we find ourselves in. Society wants something for nothing.
I wouldn't be nervous. It's a solid plan and a logical one. If it works for me, excellent. If it doesn't, it can only be down to bad luck. There is nothing wrong with my writing. Although, I'll admit I may never find the marketing strategies that work for me.
The product display ad is now active. I have a tweaked blurb ready if I don't get any sales. But really, I've read some boring blurbs of books that seem to sell. I'm still of the opinion that there's a bit of luck involved in selling books. It may not matter what I do, I may never really get sales. We'll have to see. I may have to pull an Alex R Carver and release many with the first book being free. With that in mind, I have a novella that needs work before that can be the permafree one.
Well that would actually be easier for me to come up with. I’ll have a think about that later on. Thanks.
True Alex. Very true. I’d rather be thrilled by the small things than constantly disappointed at not achieving massive goals.
So instead of a sentence for the headline should I have a list of words. Bit like a West End show would have "funny, entertaining, whatever else"Other than the 50 character headline for the display ad, I've not come across anything in the adverts that requires words beyond the keywords. As you say-daunting.
I’ve sent you a friend request. If you’d rather not have nutters like me sending you friend requests you can set up an author page and people can follow you there. I believe pages are easier to promote books from.
I try. My family used to tell me I’m very trying. (Might not mean the same thing, now I think about it...)
Ah thanks Carmel. That makes more sense. In that case, I live in hope that the Amazon reporting system is better than I thought. Hope your niece enjoys it.
That's an odd thing, isn't it. I've no idea what's happened to my automatic keyword one. It hasn't done anything in days. Just sitting there as if someone has switched it off.
I think I'm just about caught up.My thoughts on promotion and how wonderful I am at it:

You produce more than one book a year, Alex. If that's not inspirational, I don't know what is. On top of that, you sell books. I can write fast, I have yet to prove I can sell books.
