193869 Buzz! - This book kicks ass. What if spelling bees were like huge fighting tournaments? Yeah. That's this book.

193869 Some of my favorites from 2017...

Fante Bukowski Two - A continuation of the story from Fante Bukowski. It's sad and funny.

Boy, I Love You: A BL Comics Anthology - A fantastic romance anthology.

Djinn - I picked this up on a whim, and it's a beautiful little story about, yeah, Djinn.

The Long Year - Another anthology (all by the same creator) of short stories that are bleak.

Royal City, Vol. 1: Next of Kin - Such a sad book. I like sad books. This is a solid one.

Motor Crush, Vol. 1 - This book kicked me in the teeth and I loved it. It's fast paced and will throw you for the loop.

Generation X, Vol. 1: Natural Selection - By far the best X-Book released in the massive number of Marvel reboots. Teen angst and drama and everything you would expect from a solid X-Men book.

SuperMutant Magic Academy - Not published in 2017, but such a wonderful collection of comic strips that ultimately tell a fun, quirky story. I want more of this, but I also don't. It's perfect as is.

Okay, so the books I really appreciate are kind of sad and depressing. sigh
193869 Duuuuudes! Nice!!!

193869 Just read Giant Days, Vol. 6 which was fantastic and lovely and hilarious.

I managed to read my copy of As The Crow Flies which was... incomplete? Most likely because it's a volume 1 that ends abruptly. I had some thoughts that I mentioned on the show. It's a very in-your-face comic.
193869 Our Goodreads POTM was Batman: The Long Halloween. WE HAD SOME THOUGHTS, OKAY?

Check it out here!

193869 Whoa. That's a thing?

193869 First off: thanks for making the thread (definitely fine if anyone else wants to do this for future episodes in case I forget :-/).

I would say: DEFINITELY check out Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art. If you haven't read it, it's about understanding the mechanics of comics and how they're constructed. There's a LOT to unpack, but it is very well worth your time, just take it one chapter at a time.

It's a book that will help you gain an understanding in how to discuss comics on a more meta-level and give you a stronger lexicon to work from.

193869 Getting back on my kick of reading Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye with Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye Volume 5.

Telling myself I need to read this series before I jump into a full re-read of Chew.

193869 GANG!

We launched the IRCB Kickstarter today!!! This is super exciting for everyone on the show, and, hopefully, for you too! Head on over and snag a sticker and a t-shirt or two.

In other news: I read Black Bolt (2017-) #6 last night... and damn it is good.

I also started Dream Thief Volume 1... Greg Smallwood's art is unbelievable. Seriously.

193869 I started a re-read of Batman & Robin with Batman & Robin: Batman Reborn and it is just as weird as I remember. I'm digging it.

Plus, as minisode preparation with Nick, I'm going to re-read the first "year" of East of West (#1-15).

193869 This is definitely not like "hooked on phonics" and, also, we found out that Kate hates (unkept) beards.
