Hey Ryan! Thanks for joining! What's been your favorite non-Kirkman Image book you've read lately?

Welcome Dan! Read anything good lately?

193869 Finally sat down to read the Night of the Monster Men crossover event (Batman #7-8, Nightwing 5-6, Detective Comics #941-942) and found it pretty suspenseful and exciting until the very end. The ending of the story in Detective Comics #942 was incredibly lackluster (I will likely go into this further on the show this week with full spoilers).

Of course, this now means I can catch up on Batman, which will be nice.

Green Arrow 14

How is Champions going? I read #1, but I wasn't sure if I should wait for the trade... It felt very Young Avengers, Volume 1: Sidekicks but more "modern and hip."

Man, I always saw that comic and was very uncertain of what it was about. I might have to check it out after reading your review. It definitely is a different premise than I thought it was! haha

193869 I am so behind on my weekly books, but I did catch up on Uncanny X-Men which continues to be okay at best. I also read Goldie Vance #1 which was a fun issue. Not a lot of substance to it, but it put a smile on my face.

Welcome Simon! Sounds like you have a solid start for reading. Thanks for joining!

I'll go with that. I'm not loving the current Moon Knight run, but I can't bring myself to vote against the character."

*gasp* Man! I am loving the new run.

Also, I nominate Nimona!

How are you liking the new Jessica Jones series?

Also, I'm very excited to read Hawkeye #1!

193869 Whooooaaaaaa. That's quite the undertaking! Good luck!

193869 Absolutely. It's gotten to the point where I avoid some
Super hero movies opting to just see them later via renting/Netflix/etc.

The movie has to be pretty damn good for me to see it in theaters which is exactly how I view all other movies, sadly.

193869 Over the weekend I read Dynamite's "King's Watch" by Jeff Parker and Marc Laming. It felt very much like an average action movie, but I liked it enough to buy the sequel mini-series, King's Quest.

I also re-read The Paybacks + Paybacks (from Dark Horse and Heavy Metal, respectively) to get the full Paybacks story. It was pretty good. I think Donny Cates knows how to do a mini-series well and I think this book functioned well as one giant homage (no spoilers) to comic book history. Geoff Shaw's art is brilliant and he shines pretty well in this series.

193869 Welcome Lurgi! Thanks for joining the group. I've been meaning to try to read more European comics -- Where should I start (with English translated books)?
Nov 22, 2016 09:46AM

193869 Sat down and read:

Jeff Steinberg #1 (on Nick White's request) which was a weird little comedy book--I wasn't a big fan.

Ether #1 which was far more whimsical than I expected it to be. Matt Kindt very much surprised me with this book. I'm hooked.

Slam #1 which had gorgeous art (Veronica Fish) and was a nice feel-good book. I'll definitely be continuing this book.

Black Hammer #5 in which Jeff Lemire breaks your heart a hundred times over and over.

193869 Getting super political here: Transmetropolitan, Vol. 1: Back on the Street
Nov 16, 2016 09:10PM

193869 Made my way through 3/4 or Giant Days volume 3 last night. This book is incredibly refreshing in a sea of action/adventure/sci-fi/super hero comic books. It's a happy, innocent(ish), and positive book. Love this series!
Nov 10, 2016 08:41PM

193869 Finished all of the English translated Assassination Classroom and decided I should read Death Note, Vol. 1: Boredom (and the rest of the series) before I jump head first into Naruto.

On the comics front, still making my way through my backlog of weekly books. I think I'll read Nailbiter #26 next...
