they FEEL neutered at first, but they're damn good when you actually read them.

193869 THIS SPIDER-MAN GAME IS AMAZING.

Re: Aaron's comment - Totally on the mark. The mechanics aren't world-changing (also reminds me of Shadow of Mordor/War), but it feels SO COOL to play this game as Spider-Man.

193869 I finally got caught up on X-Men Blue (so I can read Extermination #1-2 --which I did--and Astonishing X-Men #13 onward). I got real into the last few issues, so Cullen Bunn has me hooked on that book again (at least until it, I assume, ends).

I also read the last two volumes of Darth Vader: Star Wars: Darth Vader, Vol. 3: The Shu-Torun War & Star Wars: Darth Vader, Vol. 4: End of Games. Star Wars books can REALLY pull me in sometimes.

193869 I always recommend the whole Cable & Deadpool series (start here: Cable & Deadpool, Volume 1: If Looks Could Kill) followed by Daniel Way's run on Deadpool (start here: Deadpool, Volume 1: Secret Invasion).

Looks like the Daniel Way run is all on comiXology Unlimited, if you have that!

193869 Really excited to dive into this book again. I'm a few issues behind on the monthly book, but I'm guessing re-reading volume 1 will get me back into gear for reading the issues I have waiting for me!

Robert wrote: "Uggh. Hated it. 😵
After this and Sailor Moon, I guess manga just isn't for me. Can't stand the art. Annoyed by the constant shouting and exclamation points. Can't make sense of the frequent non seq..."

Even if you both weren't big fans, I appreciate you checking it out at least to be able to articulate why you didn't like it rather than, "I don't like Manga!!" which is how (unfortunately) a lot of people react. :D

193869 Finally finished the Pluto series with PLUTO: Urasawa x Tezuka, Volume 007 and PLUTO: Urasawa x Tezuka, Volume 008. What an amazing series. Highly recommended.

193869 The thing I really enjoy about this series is how detailed it is. Every millimeter of paper is used to the fullest. Horikoshi's art only gets better as the series goes on, but from the get go it is stupendous.

All Might as a character / trope might be my favorite "thing" in a comic I've read in a while. His over-the-top-everything is such a well crafted joke and idea, and it works so well in the story. As things progress, the establishment of this ultimate, super-powered hero who saves everyone in Japan works super well as the basis for Deku's character progression, especially as we find out All-Might's secret (not being able to hold his form forever).

I know my commentary is about the story very early on, but if you continue reading on (AND I SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO), you'll see how the first few chapters of this series really unfold more and more as this series goes on (even by volume 13, things are still playing off of the ideas from this first volume--lots of open questions start to get answered and more questions evolve out of them).

Love this volume, love this series. I definitely think this is the best ongoing shonen manga out in the US right now.

193869 Oh. I'm also pretty excited by the comiXology Originals announced--that Spike Trotman book looks real interesting.

193869 "Fuck Batman."

Hahahahaha. I know people are real torn on the Titans trailer, but this line hit me in such an out-of-left-field way, I cannot help but laugh.

I did see a SPECTACULAR looking Gambit figure from Marvel Legends that I may have to find a way to buy.

193869 Having a great staff is SUPER important; friendly, positive, non-judgmental. A major must for a GOOD comic shop. This also means the staff know when to check in and maybe leave you be if you want to peruse on your own. I'm 100% fine with being friendly, but if I'm browsing around at a shop with a big selection, I'm cool just being by myself (I realize this sounds super snooty, but I promise, I'm not trying to be).

That being said, being able to speak to comics and chatting at the register is always a thing I love and hate.

Love: People who love comics talking about loving comics!

Hate: I hate holding up the line and/or distracting the staff from other customers.

This is also why I like grabbing my physical books on off days (if the shop is open).

Another thing that makes a shop great is a well organized, clean layout of single issues and collections. Clear labels and staff picks scattered in the bunch is great, too.
