185 Julie, since you've moved this to solved, can we assume that Jane and the Dragon was the book you were looking for?
185 If any of the other mods see this -- I've tried to shelve this title, but can't seem to get the right Truth or Consequences to come up. Any ideas?
185 You're welcome!
185 LOL! You're welcome. It makes me happy to reunite readers with their lost books. :)

185 Fran - we just posted at the same time...did you see my post about Truth and Consequences?
185 Oh, wait! I think it might be Truth and Consequences by Miriam Young.

"After getting into trouble for telling a couple of lies in mini-crisis situations, sixth grader Kim vows never to lie again, but then she discovers that the troth has even more distressing consequences. For a while Kim's ""outspokenness"" draws only some grownup frowns and her mother's impatience, but then she loses her best friend by telling Alison that her new haircut looks ugly. In the end Kim has learned to steer the middle course of truth modified by tact." (Kirkus Review)
185 I don't have access to Make Believe, but if that's not it, maybe something by Hila Colman?

185 Sounds like Mountain Valor
185 Perhaps Elling?
185 I believe it's The Monster Garden

"Frankie Stein is the daughter of a scientist whose preoccupation with his work drives a wedge among the family members"

"When her brother David steals some goop from their father's lab, Frankie cajoles him into giving some to her. The goop is hit by lightning and this turn of events creates a living creature, a mutable, jelly-like substance that endearingly creates too many fingers for its hands and has webbed feet. Frankie stops being afraid of him when she realizes how loving and gentle his nature is, and she decides to keep him in her garden"
185 Dark Places for the link. So we can consider this solved, then? Congrats on figuring it out!
