You can really see just how different Arya and Sansa are in this chapter.
The girls' direwolves really reflect their personalities.
Already she has to try to calm Joffrey down. He has quite a quick temper!
177170 thoughts while reading:
I feel like Robb had to grow up pretty quick since Catelyn kind of ignored being the responsible adult and help him learn.
So now she tries to teach him something...
I don't think she's the best mom. Everyone keeps forgetting about Rickon!
177170 thoughts while reading:
As much as he reads and knows, he was still unprepared for the North and the wall.
"I have a realistic grasp of my own strengths and weaknesses."
At times it is all too apparent how young Jon is.
Does Ghost ever make a sound?

I think it's kind of funny that Robert doesn't like his wife and Ned isn't shy in agreeing with him about her.
I think Robert would have been better off being like a knight or something versus being the king.
Is Wylla really Jon's mom? Ned certainly doesn't like talking about her so it's possible.
Jorah is spying on Dany!
Wow, Robert REALLY does not like the Targaryens! and really loved Ned's sister!
Ned is suspicious in general and especially so of the Lannisters.
177170 Oh gosh... that's a hard one. I want to hope he's alive and there's a lot of sightings that could support that, but everyone was so adamant that he wasn't so idk!

As much as I am not a fan of him, I can't say that we don't share traits. lol I told my hubby and he legitimately laughed out loud, nodded, and said 'yup!'

177170 There definitely seems to be more to Illyrio. There's just something about him that makes me think he knows more than he's letting on and he's involved in more things than we know/think.

177170 Another really good site that I've used for the books and the show is http://www.towerofthehand.com. It allows you to mark what books you've read and seasons you've watched so it doesn't let you accidentally see any spoilers. They have great summaries and recaps and family trees. I think they also have an interactive map that you can see all the characters travels on.
177170 That completely makes sense. I never really thought of it that way. Maybe they were in fear of the situation and the unknowns than the symbolism that we get from it.

From what I understood was that Ned really did not want to go. Then Catelyn gets the message and basically starts making comments about how he needs to go to find out what really happened. He may have made the final decision, but she definitely did nudge him into it. (I think...)
177170 thoughts while reading:
Viserys is almost like a petulant child. He has no patience and I can just picture him with grabby hands.
"The dragon does not beg." says the infamous Beggar King...
I feel like the horse must represent freedom to Dany - especially with the flying references.
177170 I do believe that Catelyn could be nicer to Jon since it was not his fault he was born. He doesn't seem to throw himself into her face either. He seems okay with avoiding her. I would think there would be more civility just to keep the peace but apparently I'm wrong. lol
177170 thoughts while reading:
Catelyn definitely has a problem with Jon. She also seems to feel very guilty about what happened. I found it interesting she opened up to Jon like that.
Robb is almost too trusting.
He is so good with Arya.
177170 thoughts while reading:
Clegane is not really a nice person.
Joffrey isn't exactly the smartest. lol Can't count past six?
I can't believe he slapped the prince! lol Tyrion is seriously feisty and I love it.
I wonder what he thinks of the glances between Cersei and Jaime.
Bran is definitely linked to his direwolf, but how and in what way?
177170 thoughts while reading:
Does Bran ever name his wolf?
I feel like this represents the traditional theory (?) of hubris. He's always saying he never falls and won't fall, but we all know what happens...
Bran is definitely an adventurer which makes what happened all the worst.
It seems like a few of the major events that create this domino effect are all based in assumptions and you know what they say lol (assumptions make an ass out of you and me).
177170 ♪ Leslie (aka Basesloaded32) wrote: "Oh I missed that part about Ghost. That is something very optimist for Jon."

I think so too! It seems like George R.R. Martin is a very big fan of foreshadowing.
177170 thoughts while reading:
Arya and Sansa are so opposite! Arya seems to really like Jon. She doesn't really talk bad about him and seems to have actual conversations with him.
Sansa is the good girl-listens to her elders and does the things that are expected of her without complaint.
I love how Ghost is now bigger than the other pups when he started out as the runt.
I wonder if Ned had said that Jon was a foster of sorts (kind of like Theon) if people would respect him a bit more.
Joffrey acts like he's older than Robb, but he's not. In the show their age difference seems like much more than just 2 years.
177170 thoughts while reading:
She definitely is a good voice of reason for Ned.
Ned probably has some resentment about everything. He wasn't supposed to be in charge or have to make these kinds of decisions.
Who left the lens & message? I don't recall it being revealed later on.
If the last hand of the king was murdered why would she want her husband to become the new one?
Understandable why he doesn't want to head south due to what happened to his brother and father. I'm not really okay with Catelyn basically making him go when obviously he doesn't want to/shouldn't.
I wonder why he doesn't want there to be any talk about Ashara Dayne.
When it comes to Jon Snow she's rather selfish. She doesn't want anything to do with him, doesn't want his future family to possibly interfere with her own, and is jealous he looks more like Ned than her own kids. Poor Jon!
177170 I've seen that theory floating around and it appears to have a lot of possible hints in the books. It's just not set in stone so I'm leaving all options open until the truth is finally revealed!
