177170 That definitely makes sense! Some sort of combination of both could certainly cause him to be the way he is.

Book Four (A Feast for Crows) and Five (Dance with Dragons) are the same time frame but split up by characters/region. Most of the characters I love are in Five, but not Four so that's why I had a hard time with it. Depending on who you like, that could be different for you!

I think I'm going slow this time around because it's like the third time I'm reading the first book. lol
177170 Right?! He's definitely an odd one. lol I can't help but wonder if he's naturally that way or if it's a result of Lysa's problems.

177170 I just don't want to fall behind before you guys start the 4th book. I've gotten that far and read half before putting it down last May. I'll definitely need the group discussion to help get through that one. lol
177170 George already told producers basically the whole story. He did that because he wanted them to have the story in case he died. So they know his endgame, but their paths to it may be different-butterfly effect and all.

177170 I have fallen quite behind on A Game of Thrones. I do finally have a physically copy so that has helped. I did the math and I need to read 5 chapters a day to finish it by the end of the month. I think that's fairly doable! I've been doing 2-3 on the days I read it so I just have to focus and it'll be fine. lol

OMG I wondered the same thing! Maybe he was waiting for the right shot? And if he thought he could get away with not hurting Bran-why would it take all of them?

Theon definitely likes to get around. lol
The saddle that Tyrion designed really makes me want to think he's innocent.
I think Robb was so upset with Theon because he cares so much about Bran. It was a risky thing to do, but Theon basically saved the day. Although it was Theon's fault that they weren't right behind Bran & Robb.

I love how the one statue Viserys shows interest in is "an obscene likeness of a woman with six breasts and a ferret's head".
I think Vaes Dothrak sounds likes a pretty cool city.
Dany is such a good sister. She really does just try to help him. He's just too stubborn to realize this.
177170 thoughts while reading:
Cersei is kind of messed up-she had the twin bastards killed!
And Littlefinger is kind of a coward!
I don't think I like this chapter much.

That's actually kind of a cool list to look at. It's crazy to see just how much they've strayed!
177170 I am definitely intrigued by how out there Lysa is. I'm more curious about how she ended up that way. Like what did she go through?!

177170 I'm currently reading 3 different books. lol

A Game of Thrones (of course)
I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You
City of Bones

The Vale sounds breathtakingly beautiful and I so want to visit.
I feel like the Eyrie will be very difficult to get to when winter comes. All that snow and that steep of a climb? No thanks! lol
Not so much a fan of Lysa. She's kind of... crazy.
177170 thoughts while reading:
Jorah is a traitor! I think I knew this already... I don't remember. lol
It's interesting that all these grown men are kind of scared of Dany and her unborn baby. It's sad that they want to kill her as a result.
Why does Pycelle react to Varys talking about the tears of Lys?
I love that Ned finally said no to Robert. I don't think he's used to hearing that from anyone.
Why does Littlefinger come forward NOW when he knew the information all along? Does he not want Ned to leave that badly?

This black cat they're talking about is kind of my hero. lol
I would've never thought that the Red Keep is smaller than Winterfell.
I feel like this scene with the two strangers is very... prophetic? Definitely foreshadowing!
"If one Hand can die, why not a second?... You have danced the dance before, my friend." (view spoiler)
"And now his wife [Catelyn] has abducted Tyrion Lannister, thanks to Littlefinger's meddling." Tyrion must not be guilty of what she's accusing him of!

When Ned is talking to Pycelle, Pycelle says he doesn't know how Arryn could have died. Yet in this chapter, Varys tells Ned that it was the Tears of Lys. So either Pycelle doesn't know much for being a maester or he lied about it.
177170 thoughts while reading:
For as much as Robert loves Lyanna, he doesn't seem to know her very well. Ned is always correcting/sharing new things about her. Maybe he just didn't get a good chance to get to know her?
Even Robert doesn't want the Lannisters on the throne.
Ser Loras definitely knows how to be the center of attention/make everything into a show.
How did Varys know how Arryn died, but not even the maesters did?
