174195 Also, not sure if this is cheating, but one of the books I read in January had a surprise ending. Now I want to re-read it again with that information before going onto the 2nd in the series.

I usually just do one prompt per book, but if I'm rereading a book in it's entirety do you think it would count to go towards a second prompt? I know it's my challenge my rules, but I don't really know my own rules.

174195 Ooh The Bromance Book Club is on my list this year too. Maybe I'll bump it up to this month!

I'm going to start Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead tonight for "nominated for an award with a W".

Then also hoping to get to

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches: Asian diaspora author
How to Sell a Haunted House: thinking for route of travel because I thought it was a pathway on the cover, but I can't tell anymore so who knows
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: related to pride
Five Survive: murder

Then I'm at the mercy of the library and will probably throw in some fun ones like The Bromance Book Club, Boyfriend Material, and Adventures of a Vegan Vamp
174195 This sounds weird, but I'm not great at deciphering covers. Can I get people's opinion on whether How to Sell a Haunted House would count? Is that a pathway up to the house? Or a sidewalk behind the house?

174195 Congrats Ellie!! That is amazing!

I’m at 14 and used 13 for the challenge. Although I’ll finish Inheritance of Orquidea Divina tonight for our prompt of returning home.

Emily, that is super mom status!! I had negative Nancy’s that used to tell me when I’m pregnant “guess you won’t be reading anymore” then laugh. But I actually found that newborn phase is a lot of random eating and sleeping for them and reading for me. I got through a lot of audiobooks with my headphone during feedings

174195 Haha I also added it to my TBR.

I find that I'm liking corny/cheesy books more and more. And I say that with total love. They just make me so happy.

174195 For sure. I took a 30 minute spiral down Goodreads and Google to figure out why a character in my book is a dick. Turns out no one knows, but it made me feel better.

174195 I think it’s ok to have differing standards. If you finish it in one sitting then I would 100% say that’s one day. But if you maybe started 1am Saturday and finished 3am Sunday you could say that was 2 days because it was more than 24 hours.

But I vote (because my vote is very important) the wake up to go to sleep rule if you want to stick to one rule, because it’s one day for you.

174195 Oh haha then I think whatever feels right in your soul.

I’m actually the “wild one” that stays up late in my family. And it’s only because it’s my only free reading time or else I’d be out before 9.

174195 I think it’s ok to count when you go to bed if it’s after midnight, since the readathon starts when you wake up the first day.

I say this knowing I’m in bed by 10pm and never have this problem.

174195 I hoping to get 2 more hours of my audiobook in tonight then we can use 2 bookmarks on the 3rd Health!!!

It’s been so great reading with all of you.
Jan 28, 2023 06:21PM

174195 I added the 2 bookmarks to finish the second health category. I’ve been a bit slower in my reading, but I have about 9.5 hours left in this book that I should finish up tomorrow. So hopefully we can get another 2 bookmarks to complete the second Career.

174195 I’m actually not a big Stephen King fan. I’ve tried two, but I’m always like meh. Which I know is crazy because he is THE Stephen King.

174195 No problem, it’ll fit other prompts. I did look up funeral director and it said green haha. I didn’t know there were so many colors of professions lol
Jan 27, 2023 08:23PM

174195 Ok I’m going to start The Inheritance of Orquidea Divina which can fit and finish up the prompt with a title that starts with a letter in FAMILY.

174195 I think I’m going to give up on Station Eleven, at least for now. It’s bugging me that for some reason every engineer/electrician/plumber died while all the actors and musicians seemed to die.
Jan 27, 2023 04:17PM

174195 I don’t see it grated out, but I’m looking on my phone.

Thanks Traci! I just finished last night and since I think it can fit a few was going to wait to see what other categories need help filling
Jan 26, 2023 09:15PM

174195 No worries, I’ve been the same. The week started out great and the last few days I’ve been struggling to find their motivation to read.

Just finished Ex Talk. It was very meh. Not sure where I’ll put it yet.

I’ll make sure to finish Station Eleven by Sunday, but not sure if I’ll be able to get another book in after that

174195 Ooh I loved firekeepers daughter! I think you would enjoy it and hockey definitely plays an important role.

If you want to read another middle grade book you should do it. But don’t do it if it’s just for the read-a-thon. I’m sure we’ll find a green cover.
Jan 26, 2023 09:56AM

174195 I also say DNF. I’ve gotten more comfortable with doing that in the last year or so. There are too many good books and too little time.
Jan 25, 2023 08:22PM

174195 We've completed all the categories except Money.

The only prompts left for that are:

- financial event is important
- green cover
- self-help book
