174195 I actually found another short book that fit one of remaining categories.

For some reason the 2023 prompt is the hardest for me. The ones I’m excited to read don’t come out till the Fall

174195 Ooh Martha, let me know how you like Weyward.

Finished The Man Who Died Twice and put it under Party/ a humorous book. I highly recommend this mystery series. It’s such a joy.

Does anyone have any good novella/short books published this year to recommend? If so, I can start that tonight and probably finish. Otherwise I may just be able to contribute pages

174195 Sorry I’ve been slower this read-a-thon. Hoping to finish The Man Who Died Twice tonight or early tomorrow morning. Don’t know if I’ll be able to finish another book but will be able to get hours in this weekend

174195 I had never heard of r/Fantasy bingo! I think I might try it out once I finish our challenge!

174195 Oh I missed the holiday one, are we counting vacations as holidays. I think holiday means different things different places. But UnHoneymooners could fit there and and Lessons in Chen can move to white collar.

174195 Thanks Kathryn! That’s totally true.

And Roxana that sounds like a wonderful day!!

174195 Started The Man Who Died Twice today but have been a bit distracted. My 17-month old has started biting at daycare and I’ve been a mess thinking about it.

174195 Finished The Unhoneymooners and I did really enjoy it. I put it under Business/ white collar professional. The heroine is a scientist with a PhD.

Not sure what I’ll read next, but won’t start it till tomorrow.

174195 Are you liking Lessons in Chemistry

I'm reading The Unhoneymooners right now (and enjoying it) and the main heroine is a scientist. I googled and it definitely is a white-collar job. So I can add that there or Traci if you finish first I can also put it under holiday or event (wedding) and we can start on the second round of prompts

174195 Haha you are so brave! I couldn’t read anything besides upbeat books for a while. The slightest thing would make me start crying. I cried during multiple Top Chef episodes too. I was a mess lol

174195 Completed The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and put it under Casual: set in a small or rural area.

I was going to start a book over 400 pages, but Book Woman made me so angry I have to start The Unhoneymooners to put myself in a better mood.

174195 I just finished The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and I'm actually appalled that this book has so many good reviews.

In entertainment there is a very fine line between story-telling and cultural appropriation. This book goes so far past that line I actually gasped at certain parts. I'm truly amazed that people aren't mentioning how the author compares discrimination of "blue people" (for which there doesn't seem to be any real historical context or research) to Black people in the South. Even subtle things like capitalizing "blue" but not Black, or non-subtle things like using the n-word, more than once, for "blue people".

I need a really really happy book to follow that up.

Also, sorry to be the debbie downer for the chat, I just had to vent that out to other book readers. I'll read The Unhoneymooners next just to life my spirits.

174195 Haha Tracy, I was thinking the same thing. I’m in the Bay Area and 90% of people wear jeans to the office. Even our C-Suite.

174195 You’re all doing so great! Still reading Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. Haven’t got much in today with Easter. But hoping to finish tomorrow.

Not loving it right now, but hopefully it grows on me

174195 Finished Love & Other Words and put it in Avant Garde: not totally chronological.

Going to start Book Woman of Troublesome Creek

174195 Hoping to finish up Love & Other Words today. Started Thursday, but I still have 6 hours left on the audiobook so it’ll definitely count.

174195 Happy April!

Hoping to finish the challenge this month, especially with the readathon. Usually I luck out and have to drive a lot during readathons, but not this time.

Currently reading: Enemies at Home (Flavia Albia Mystery, #2) by Lindsey Davis

This month hoping to read:
The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren The Man Who Died Twice (Thursday Murder Club, #2) by Richard Osman The Bullet That Missed (Thursday Murder Club, #3) by Richard Osman

And three other books yet to be determined.

Oddly, the prompt I’m having the hardest time filling is the 2023 prompt. I saved that for the end because I assumed it would be easy, only to find that the new releases I most want to read don’t come out till the end of the year
