Amy, just wanted to come in and thank you for organizing this every year!

Yay! Emily go clean!!
2 Weeks: Two books by authors with names the rhyme. ExamplesOh, Bowe, Shapiro, Picoult, Mailhot, Vo, Chou, DiCamillo, Antonio
Deanna Raybourn and Joanna Bourne
Katharine McGee and Kazu Kibuishi
Jennifer McQuiston and Viet Thanh Nguyen
Charlotte McConaghy and Paul Tremblay
Katie Mack and Holly Black
Virginia Woolf and Gene Wolfe and Tom Wolfe

I feel like I read a fair amount of books with protagonists that have a range of disabilities, but I actually don’t know if I ever read one with a true sensory disability. Which made me nervous about that specifically.
I guess I could have done a KIS of a character that can see without glasses (a la Harry Potter) but that felt like too much of a stretch.

Ack totally missed it, sorry!! 🤦🏽♀️

Emily, what time will suggestions be tomorrow?

I'm with you Ellie, but that's kind of how I felt about all the prompts this week. They were fine, I don't dislike any of them. But nothing that really excited me or new.

What time will suggestions be tomorrow?

Just saw this listed (and added an embarrassing amount to my TBR) that will work if sci-fi/fantasy gets in.

I like the spine poetry in theory, but I know I would struggle so much if it got in. So fair warning, if it does (which I’d be happy with) I’m going to need some help with my TBR.
This takes me back to English class when we had to write poems and I always bombed.

ooh I found it on page 8: two authors with names that rhyme.
The Diviners by
Libba Bray and
Claudia Gray,
Roxane GayOther suggestions from our lovely group:
NancyJ: Oh, Bowe, Shapiro, Picoult, Mailhot, Vo, Chou, DiCamillo, Antonio
Nadine in NY: Deanna Raybourn and Joanna Bourne; Katharine McGee and Kazu Kibuishi; Jennifer McQuiston and Viet Thanh Nguyen; Charlotte McConaghy and Paul Tremblay; Katie Mack and Holly Black; Virginia Woolf and Gene Wolfe and Tom Wolfe

I loved the Cinder series and really all retellings/inspirations so would def upvote or suggest if no one is around.
I feel like I had a good multi week prompt but now I’ve forgotten it and don’t know if I posted it earlier in this thread 🤦🏽♀️

I know we'll have a discussion thread for each prompt, but would "first" count as a book with a number in the title?

BIPOC and LGBTQIA bans are across the world, I just get a lot of lists from U.S. based organizations so that was what popped in my mind.
Also, not opposed to the prompt, I can just see why others would be

Hmm I'm stumped on this list. There isn't anything I love, but there also isn't anything I dislike. I'm more like meh because I feel like all of these are things I could do without thinking about it.
I think with banned books it used to be a set number of classics which did get tedious. But now, thanks to America, basically any book with a BIPOC or LGBTQIA character has been banned somewhere. So depending on how people want to interpret it it can be very narrow or very broad

Wow suggestions flew by this time

I’ll also say as a parent of a toddler, I make a lot of threats I will never keep. “If you eat crayons, I won’t give you any dinner!”
She proceeds to try to eat crayons, I do in fact give her dinner.

Yeah wear out would refer to a spanking or “switch on your butt” to me.

Jette, I was just about to comment that switches is a very southern thing. I’m from CA, but had a southern grandma (Mississippi) and I remember my cousin having to get his switch. I never did, because I’m perfect 😁

Oh I don’t mind that they are rich in great gatsby. Or that they are entitled. They are just all such horrible characters with no redeeming qualities. I actually think Nick is the most entitled, despite being the “poor one”.
That said, I actually did like
Beautiful Little Fools which did encourage me to try great gatsby again. But it was still a no.
