So sorry to hear. The Helpis funny. Also the The Wedding Date and The Princess Bride are fun and easy reads.

Perfecting my spreadsheet is one of my life achievements! lol

Thanks Emily! I think I was just nervous about it being too deep, but glad to know it's humorous too!

174195 I just found this thread and I'm so excited! Usually I already have my next books planned, just based on my gut instinct, but I'm stuck right now!

I'm finishing up Morning Star and am going to take a break before reading the rest of the series (this is the end of the first trilogy). I need to take a break before my next series which is going to The Name of the Wind. And I want to use a book that I own.

I'm not particularly thrilled by any of them right now, despite knowing I want to read them in general.

The Help: I like the movie, I know usually books are better, but what about this one?
Difficult Women: love Roxane Gay's non-fiction books but I'm nervous about not liking her fiction series
One Hundred Years of Solitude: A classic that I know I need to read and have promised myself will read in 2020
Lord of the Flies: reading this again since I haven't read it since highschool, but loved it then
Quicksand: just got this for Christmas

Wow! That's impressive. You can do it! Still plenty of time to make up the lost days so far.

I'm the same. I don't so much care about my numbers on Goodreads, but this is my first year doing a reading challenge and I want to be honest to the challenge. Plus I know I can pick up another "classic I've meant to read" from something else.

I really try to get through a whole book and not judge it from the beginning. I think this is only my 3rd DNF (the 2nd I threw across a room because I was so annoyed -- no books were permanently harmed in that scenario).

That said, I do think it would be nice to see when other people have DNF'd a book. If the Goodreads overlords are reading... hint hint.

Good idea! This is the second time I'm tried to start Bram Stoker's Dracula, but it's just not going to be for me. Ever.

174195 What does everyone do with books that they do not finish? I'm not going to count it towards my challenge, but just interested in getting perspectives on how you track it in Goodreads.

Do you mark it as read and give it a rating? Or just delete from all the shelves? Some other method? I wish Goodreads had a DNF option.

I'm a first-timer too! How do you like The Kiss Quotient so far? I was thinking of adding it to my list as well.

I've joined a subreddit called A Year Of War And Peace, and the idea is that you read a chapter a day, starting January 1st, and finish on 31st December. I've previously done this challenge before, but only made it 50% of the way through before giving up due to lack of time. Hopeful I can stick to it this year!"

This is a great idea! Do you mind sharing the subreddit? I'd love to join, even if I am a couple days late

174195 Currently reading There There for my NYT 100 Notable and I'm disappointed. There was a chapter where one of the characters pooped himself, and I don't think it has any relevance to the story. Now I'm just trying to get through it as fast as possible so I can get onto something new.

Then listening to Brave New World for Book with an Emotion in the title. Haven't read it since high school and I had loved it then. Love it a little less now.

I guess the year can only go up from here!
