Also, I know we say people don’t understand the prompt so they don’t vote, but I don’t think this is necessarily true and in a way infantizes (sp??) people. If a prompt sounds interesting to people, they’ll look it up or read about the suggestions or discussions. If it doesn’t, they won’t. I’m active in posting and read the discussions, but if something doesn’t interest me, rarely are explanations and posts about the different ways it can be interpreted going to sway me. But then there are others that it does help. We all go ‘about this process’ (prepositional phrase lol) differently.
I don’t think we need to create new things based on something that is ultimately a guess and a narrative that hasn’t been proven.
Submit the prompts you like and try to make it as clear and concise as possible. Then hope for the best. We’ll get a great list regardless.

Another push for musical, for those interested in civil rights prompt, that could pair well with the musical Hairspray

I really like how the list is turning out and I like trying to find creative ways to interpret prompts. For example, maybe for the multi week land, sea and air you also connect them based on Eurovision countries. For chilling atmosphere, you can read a book about ice cream!
I’m not a supreme vet, but after about 4 years, the challenge is really what you make it. And once the new year hits, I never think oh I don’t like the final list. I’m just excited to be doing the challenge.

Sad about Going for Gold. I think it was just too soon to have it again and I think 3rd times the curse here.

~~ A book related to a Las Vegas hotel...."
Here's a few:
Luxor - Egyptian theme, pyramids
Flamingo - Florida, tropic..."
Another really good King Arthur one is Legendborn. It's a series and amazing!

what do people think about "a book related to a musical"
It could be a book that a has a musical in it, or related to a musical.
Every Tony Award Best Musical winner: https://deadline.com/gallery/best-ton...
Could also include Disney (for fans of that prompt) or musical movies (my research turned up 8-Mile, which I think Eminem would enjoy knowing it's being dubbed a musical).

The problem with this is also that people rate books just because they like or dislike the author not because they’ve even received an ARC. George R R Martin’s 6th book which hasn’t even been finished has 11,000 ratings.

- Going for Gold: I like books about athletes and like the broader interpretation but still connected to Olympics next year
- Sailor Moon: although I do see how now people can think it's too broad, but I'd probably also try to read manga or a book set in Japan
- Reading Title: It's like a hidden book about books prompt, which I love
I also wouldn't mind independent bookseller, because I would read off of Tookie's list from The Sentence
at this point it's just whether my enjoyment of those prompts outweighs my dread of the others.

I wouldn’t count an original screenplay as a book that was the basis of a movie.

At least I’m fairly certain Titanic is based off of the actual event 😉
