174195 @Jacqie, I'm actually bad at keeping track on our Goodreads group page. I use my own Excel spreadsheet that I update whenever I pick up or finish a new book. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

This year, I'm going to try to complete ATY and PopSugar. But for ATY, I'm only going to read 4+ star books. This sounds easy, but there are a lot on my TBR that I keep putting off. So this year, either I read them or I remove them from my TBR.

174195 I almost forgot about the new year 🤦🏽‍♀️

I’m one chapter into Carrie Soto is Back. I can hold off for today. Usually I like to start fresh too. But I couldn’t help myself last night before bed.

174195 Darn, those are the last two I have lol. I’m guessing the final ones most people have.

174195 I actually finished today and I’m really glad I did! Still love Beartown the most, but now just two more Fredrik Backman books to go

174195 Didn’t get any reading done yesterday but added my numbers from the plane ride today.

Great job everyone!!

174195 I couldn’t find a Winter Discussion, so sorry if I haven’t moved on.

I’m about 1/3 through A Man Called Ove. I like Ove and don’t want “something” to happen to him, but I don’t feel really connected to him or any of the other characters.

I was obsessed with the whole Beartown series and really enjoyed Anxious People. Is A Man Called Ove just slow? Or if I’m not feeling it a third in should I just cut my losses?

174195 Caitie, I definitely didn’t love it as much as southern book club. But have high hopes for his next novel.

174195 Awesome!! I probably won’t finish another but I’ll keep adding my pages. I thought I’d have more time this weekend.

174195 Or would A Man Called Ove fit handwriting on the cover? That prompt always confuses me. I’m never quite sure what counts.
Dec 16, 2022 01:46PM

174195 Irene, I think it counts because the prompt doesn’t specify first or last/sur-name. I was also thinking of Holes because the main character is Stanley Yelnats.

But if you use it for Lord Acton I can do Tomorrow^3 for no person on the cover. I don’t have a good fauna one.

The challenge ends Sunday when we go to bed?

174195 Yeah Tracy, I just put Holes under Times YA list.

I’ll look at the open prompts. I have either A Man Called Ove or Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow but will see which may fit the remaining prompts best since we already have one for aging.

174195 Just finished Daughter of the Siren Queen and added it to the Tarot prompt, since it didn't look like we had a lot of options.

I also just borrowed Holes from the library as that will be a quick read for Time's 100 YA prompt and I should finish it tomorrow on a plane ride.

Then I'll try to end the challenge with A Man Called Ove which can go for the aging prompt or the last continent prompt (Europe)

174195 Also I think just window in the title means it would fit the glass prompt.

174195 For inclement weather I think any storm or maybe consistent rain would count.

For example, The Winners starts with a bad storm that impacts aspects of the story. I think that would fit even though it’s not a storm that lasted throughout the book.

174195 Chrissy, I loved The Winners! I hope you are enjoying it.

174195 Maybe it was the three-day weekends that tricked me. But it would be nice to have two full weekends (sat & sun) to complete. But totally get that it could be more work and you all do so much for us as it is.

174195 Finished The Ocean at the End of the Lane and put it for Jewish character/author.

I'm going to start Daughter of the Siren Queen. Not sure where I'll add it, but it'll fit a lot of prompts:
- main character ATY
- 22+ letters
- next book in a series
- Tarot
- handwriting on cover
Dec 13, 2022 07:43PM

174195 Perfect, I’ll keep it with Here There be Dragons.

Maybe I'll start The Ocean at the End of the Lane which can be put in Jewish character/author and I can finish it a bit quicker.
Dec 13, 2022 07:29PM

174195 I finished Daughter of the Pirate King. I put it under Here There be Dragons. I really enjoyed it so I'm going to start the sequel, Daughter of the Siren Queen.

If we have another book for Here There Be Dragons, I can put these two books under the "two books with the same word in the title - 'Daughter of the...'".

Let me know what you'd like me to do. I probably won't finish it till Thursday, then I'll choose my final book or two based on the prompts we still have open.
Dec 12, 2022 08:37PM

174195 I should say it can fit others, but I feel like that prompt was one of the harder ones I had to fill this year
