174195 I saw it once yesterday. My friend is coming over at 5 pm today to watch Hamilton & have dinner with us. I love the song burn too. I saw a zoom interview yesterday off Sirius XM with all the lead characters. It was so good. The interview is up all weekend I think.

174195 I have 2 suggestions for future prompts to throw out here for discussion.
1. A graphic novel in any genre.
2. A book related to mental health. It could be fiction or nonfiction. Short stories or novel. May is mental health awareness month & 10/10/21 is World Mental Health Day so people may be reading books related to metal health for these occasions. Recently there have been a few releases dealing with mental health that look really interesting.

174195 I hope I’m asking this question in the correct thread. This is my first ATY challenge. I haven’t voted before so I want to make sure I know what I’m doing. I think at this point I’m going to down vote all my 8 votes. How do you down vote?
174195 I have never meet an author or had any contacts with authors. I don’t want to have to reach out to someone just to complete the prompt.

174195 Wow. June was an unbelievable month of 5 star reading for me. I had 5 books.
In the Woods (Dublin Murder Squad #1) by Tana French.
ebook. Week # 41 A Mystery. I think it was the best because it kept me engaged. I usually don't read mysteries.
Between The World And Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Print. Week # 31 Book taken from today's headlines. Black Lives Matter. I read it 6/19/20 for Juneteenth. It was the best because it is timely. I liked that it was a letter to his son.
The Vanishing Half by Bret Bennett. ebook. Not for this challenge. I read it with the above book for the Juneteenth read-a-thon. I liked the story of the town & the twins.
The Overstory by Richard Powers. ebook. Not for this challenge. I like the way he introduced characters by working their story to fit with a tree. Then once the characters were introduced the story tied them all together trees and all. Great story. My favorite book of the year so far.
Finally, The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix. ebook. Not for this challenge. It is a horror story but not too over the top scary. The characters, especially the book club ones, are very well written. When you get mad at characters (the husbands) you know the book is doing its job.

174195 I finished Run Me To Earth by Paul Yoon yesterday. It is my last book for June. I used it for week #29 A lesser known,or underrated book. I liked it, 4 stars.
My current read is We Ride Upon Sticks by Quan Barry for week # 44 a book related to witches. I'm going to like the 1980's setting.
174195 I used Run Me To Earth by Paul Yoon for this week.
I heard about it in January when it was released.
I'm using it as a lesser known book because the reviews were good.I think 2020 will be the year of lesser known books since authors aren't going on tour & getting their books out there by the usual methods.

174195 I have finished 3 books since my last check in. None for this challenge.
The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. 5 stars. I really liked the story. Excellent book.
The Overstory by Richard Powers 5 stars. I LOVED this book. My favorite one of the year so far. When people ask me about it I say it’s a door stopper about trees. Then watch their expressions.
The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix. Again 5 stars & I loved the book. I usually don’t hand out 5 stars like candy but all three books were engaging & interesting. Great stories all three.
My current read is Run me To Earth by Paul Yoon.

174195 Since I last checked in I have completed two books. Fleishman Is In Trouble by Taffy Brodesser-Akner. It wasn’t for this challenge. I gave it 3 stars. I really didn’t like the characters. The other book was Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. I used it for week #31 A book Inspired by a leading news story. I gave it 5 stars. I currently have 2 books going which is something I never do. The Overstory by Richard Powers. I started it 6/16 but put it down to read Between The World and Me. The other book is The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett.

174195 I read Between The World An Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates for this prompt.
This book is relevant to today’s news because of Black Lives Matter. I read it 6/19/2020 Juneteenth which has been a leading news story this year.
I like nonfiction stories based on real time news but I read just as many nonfiction stories.

174195 I liked The Merchant and the Alchemist’s. I caught myself not paying attention during Exhalation so when he started talking about dissecting his own brain I was like, what is going on here? I found The Lifecycle of Software Objects long and sad. I guess my favorite was The Truth Of Fact, The Truth of Feeling because the protagonist turned out not to be a nice person. The story didn’t go where I thought it was. All the stories are well written & make you think.
Jun 13, 2020 06:08AM

174195 I completed Exhalation Stories by Ted Chiang for week #52 A book about time. I gave it 4 stars. Well researched & written. Very deep.
Jun 13, 2020 06:06AM

174195 1. What did you read for this prompt? Exhalation by Ted Chiang.
2. How did the book relate to time? The book is a Science Fiction,Fantasy, Short Story collection. I think all the stories dealt with time in different forms. The first story was time travel. Some dealt with the passage of time. Some were set in the future. Most of the stories had past and future events colliding. I gave the book 4 stars for the depth of research and creativity. Sometimes I felt like my head was going to explode if I thought any harder about a certain story.
