Judy wrote: "Thanks Michaela - it has been read here before but that was five years ago (one of the group's very first reads!), so it is fine to nominate again. :)"Sorry! Didn´t find it on the bookshelf...

Yes, of course, thanks Judy!
I´ll nominate another one I´ve got at home:
The Cornish Coast Murder by
John Bude
The Reverend Dodd, vicar of the quiet Cornish village of Boscawen, spends his evenings reading detective stories by the fireside - but heaven forbid that the shadow of any real crime should ever fall across his seaside parish.
But the vicar's peace is shattered one stormy night when Julius Tregarthan, a secretive and ill-tempered magistrate, is found at his house in Boscawen with a bullet through his head.
The local police inspector is baffled by the complete absence of clues. Luckily for Inspector Bigswell, the Reverend Dodd is on hand, and ready to put his keen understanding of the criminal mind to the test.

I also got the audiobook, as my libraries are closed, so I hope it´s not too bad. ;)

I bought this one, as I love the BLCCs. :)

Thanks Judy! Not a fan of Horowitz or Sophie Hannah, but have
The Thursday Murder Club on my tbr list. :)

Merry Christmas to those celebrating and happy holidays to all members! :)

Of the books I read this year my favourites were
Nectar in a Sieve,
The Woman from Tantoura,
Ceremony,
Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass,
Homegoing, of the Classics
Classic Love Poems (audiobook),
North and South (re-read),
The Mayor of Casterbridge,
Far From the Madding Crowd and some Austen re-reads. Favourite mysteries were
Louisiana Longshot,
The Fatal Flying Affair, several Christies,
Saint Peter's Fair,
The Leper of St. Giles and
Fell Murder as well as
Murder in the Mill-Race, so I´ll defintely read more of
E.C.R. Lorac.

For once I´m jumping into this buddy read, as I was reading this with another group too. I liked the little stories which I partly knew, as I remember The Christmas Pudding (perhaps from the Suchet series?), and guessed a part of the Miss Marple mystery.

I read this a while ago, but hope to comment. I like Cadfael, but must agree that the young people are quite similar.

Aw, I got Braiding Sweetgrass on my tbr list, but it´s not on sale here, as well as The Mother Tongue. :(

Yes, I think that's right. I was puzzled, though as to h..."Yes, that was highly unlikely imo.

I finally finished this, and it wasn´t always easy to read. I know there is a genre of mystery that rolls a case up from behind, but this didn´t really work for me. It might make a good fiction book, but not the mystery I expected.
All the persons were unlikable in this, but that needn´t be an obstacle. I found the writing good though, but didn´t quite catch the end. Is Miles letting Brand from the hook, who kills himself? but Eustache is free, though he´s afterwards fined for fraud?

I just started it, and it´s quite different... Pity you didn´t like it, but I even saw a 5-star review from a lady, so there´s hope. :)

Great, thanks everyone! That´s been on my tbr list! :)

Pity they´re not on sale here, but will put them on my list, thanks Susan!

Great, thanks Judy! I´ve got The Cheltenham Murder at home, so looking ahead to this one!
Judy wrote: "Michaela, we have got the fifth Cadfael book coming up in mid December, The Leper of St. Giles - it will be great if you are tempted to join in. :)"Oops, I read this one too, so the first five. but will comment, thanks! :)

I totally missed this thread! Would like to read the Cadfael mysteries too, though I already read the first four books.
