This was a difficult book, but I was so gripped throughout and the fact that the subject matter was published in 1940 blew me away! I had to go 5 stars

Holy cow! This book is so intense, it just blew me away!

I have been holding my breath this entire book so far. Much more intense than I expected!

Finished today - a reread - and loved is so much this time! I was pretty "meh" on it last time.

Carol wrote: "I read it in college, hated it (although I don't remember why), and have no desire to read it again."I can imagine - this is definitely a one time read for me!
Glenda wrote: "I think everyone in western WA put this book on hold, the last I checked I would be #17 or so on my library hold list. I still want to read it, apparently not anytime soon though."We will be here waiting to discuss when you do!😁
Brooklyn wrote: "Is anybody else reading this book or books? I feel like we are the only commenters! LOL"Probably just us - it definitely takes a commitment and staying it through to the end was a chore. So, I imagine a few may have bowed out!

This one is going quickly! So far the feel of it is reminding me of
Siddhartha.

I am down to number 2 on the hold list! :)

I am still waiting on my hold copy - looks like I will be reading it in November (or maybe even December!?)

I am also finished!

I am not sure about breaking this up into smaller parts. It appears to have 8 separate "books" within it, but I am not quite sure it is worth breaking them down as when I moved from book 1 to book 2, the transition was not all that obvious. Meaning, sometimes there is a major event that divides the book and creates the perfect dividing line. This just seemed like the author decided to change it to book two after a chapter.
Maybe it has to do with the way it was originally released? No real reason to break where it does, that was just all Eliot was releasing at the time?
