Here is the Buddy Reads Folder - if you want me to start up a topic for it, I can. I had put it on hold just in case it won, so I will definitely be reading it in July.

158858 *drumroll*

The winner of the July 2020 Poll is The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton!

It beat out the Joy Luck Club by one vote!

There was mention of doing The Joy Luck Club as a buddy read if people are interested. We do have a seldom used buddy read thread in the Completist group that we could resurrect for that purpose. Feel free to let me know if there is enough interest to do that.

158858 July 2020 Completist Poll - Female Authors

What should we read in July?

Carol noticed last month that the June list only contained one female author. So, this month I have made an all female author poll.

All of the selections are from one of our lists and their is a pretty good variety of genre and old and new. Hopefully you can find one that interests you!

158858 Lonesome Dove is the Poll winner and will be our Big Read for July-September 2020

158858 Last day to vote - not out of the question for what appears to be a comfortable lead for Lonesome Dove to dissolve if we have several last minute voters . . .

158858 So far, compared to other recent classics I have read, this one is written in a much more palatable fashion. It is interesting and keeping my attention.

158858 A Passage to India was the Poll winner for June
158858 Here is the review I posted today:

158858 I know we talk a lot lately about the quarantine and COVID-19 - I think with that being the case right now, Christopher's fear of crowds and being touched by others really hit home.
158858 I am about halfway through. It is very well written and interesting. The main character stirs many emotions with the way he looks at the world.

Warning: If you don't want the Hound of the Baskervilles ruined for you, then don't read this book! He doesn't just reference it, he tells the whole story and then lays out the spoilers as bullet points!

158858 Ugh - I am still mired in reading slumpage - I just removed this from my currently reading after one month since I haven't yet read a page. SOON! (I hope!)
158858 Jessica wrote: "I also read it a couple of times in my life and even went to the play of it two years ago... that was indeed a more curious event even then the book. I hope you'll enjoy it!"

Oh! They made a play of this one!? Interesting . . .
158858 Eileen wrote: "I've actually read this book once (about 10 years ago?) and then last year I listened to it. I still enjoyed it the second time around. :)"

It is one that I have seen in my Goodreads feed and on bookshelves in book stores a lot, and I have always been . . . dare I say . . . CURIOUS!
158858 Starts today! Happy reading!
