I didn't make it past chapter one yet! Will soon, though. Just too many other books and too much going on! 😁

Sorry I have not discussed more in this buddy read. My family is doing a week camping trip so a lot of time is spent off devices.
I finished this one on the drive to the campground. I wish I had enjoyed it more. Here is my review:

Okay, I found a..."You read so fast, I am sure you will get to them soon! 😁

I am about half way through. I can say like it okay, but I don't necessarily love it. Some parts are better than others. However, each part has been interesting in its own way.
This is probably an issue for many, but for me, the Chinese names are sometimes difficult to follow. Perhaps someone from China reading a book with a lot of American names feels the same!

Eileen wrote: "Okay, I just picked up my copy of Joy Luck Club (Playaway). I just started Doomsday Book today, but I may start JLC tomorrow or Sunday depending my mood. What the heck is Shakespeare for Squirrels?!"I started Joy Luck Club today on my lunch break while I was mowing. Not sure what to expect, but interesting so far!
Pretty funny author - this is the third book in his Shakespeare retelling series. I finished today so review to come soon!
Eileen wrote: "Cool, I really enjoyed this one! I wasn't so sure because classics + Victorian Era just felt boring to me, lol. But it was really well written and crafted and I enjoyed it. But oh, that ending. Ouc..."Yay! Another person who enjoyed!
Actually, I just went through our reading lists looking for female authors and came across this one for the poll. I am so glad that I did! :)
Moonlight Reader wrote: "Another Wharton convert - we will take over the world someday!"Indeed! It does make me interested to check out her other works. So glad I liked the writing and presentation.
Rumor has it the movie is on Netflix. Gonna have to check it out!

There is a part in chapter one where a character talks about traveling around Egypt during a pandemic - not worrying about the pandemic, quarantines, etc. It does sound way too similar to right now.

"We're about to cross the point of no return. Maybe we already have." p. 17

Finally getting to Swan Song. Just finished
Red Storm Rising and the first chapter is eerily similar.

Okay - I have decided to use my audible free trial for this. Also, I have been having trouble finding the third book in The Expanse series on audio - my library has all the rest on audio so I am not sure why they don't have that one.
I am 50% done with Shakespeare for Squirrels. Once I am done, I will start this.

Just got my copy of Doomsday Book in the mail! I will begin soon - just have a few more pages in a couple of other books first.

I liked this one a lot more than I expected I would - a pleasant surprise!

It spoils the end, though, so don't read it before you finish the book."Thanks - I will check it out! I only had about 20 minutes left at the end of my lunchtime walk today, so I should finish soon.

I am almost done and all I keep doing is
(view spoiler)[shaking my head and the actions of Archer. Then, when he finds out why he can't just run away - BOOM! Take that Archer! But, then I feel bad for his wife and future kid that they have this guy in their lives who doesn't care about anything but running off to Europe with some other woman. Sometimes I can sympathize with characters finding forbidden love, but I do not sympathize with Archer. (hide spoiler)]

I am so glad this group helped you find Updike. I have been meaning to continue, but it just kind of fell through the cracks. Your follow-up is certainly inspiring - I might have to get to more of these sooner than later (even if book two is only two stars!)

Am I supposed to
(view spoiler)[find Archer to be kind of pathetic (hide spoiler)]? Because so far I do!
Moonlight Reader wrote: "Matthew wrote: "Just started yesterday. Easy to follow, but lots of characters and relationships - that is where I will have to focus my efforts on keeping track!
Also, very interesting how parano..."Regarding your spoiler, I am starting to understand that a bit more with
(view spoiler)[the divorce proceedings (hide spoiler)]. However, that is all pretty much par for the course in modern society!
