154447 Hey all,

My short story A Diary Of A Dairy Fairy is about ready for some readers to look it over. I need a few honest opinions on it.

I have had two beta readers look it over already and there is a member of this group that has already expressed interest. If you have any questions about it or are interested in reading it, shoot me a PM.

Thanks.

(Please don't post your email addresses in this thread).

And that's going to happen no matter what you do. Some will love your work, some will not.

154447 I do that, too, Leah. I have even put things like that in my writing. I have had one minor complaint from a reader. I have also had a number or readers say it makes the character more relatable to allow them such quirks. Characters might not focus on dew drops. Humans do.

154447 Justin,

Dug this up. Not sure how useful it will be.

Check out message 6. Wonder if that guy ever tried Rafflecopter.

Read the rules James. No bookwhacking, no links, no hijacking...

I don't read a ton of fantasy / sci-fi / action / spy whatever, but it never has bothered me to see it used in those. Is there a way you could twist it a bit to make it feel fresher if it bothers you? Maybe have one of your heroes not make it out on time?

154447 If we had to stop using cliches, most of us (and I point that finger more at myself than anyone) would stop writing. They're nearly unavoidable. Do whatever fits your story best and gives you the ending that satisfies you the most.

154447 Okay. This happens more often than it should. I'm rolling up to an intersection. There's already a car there, to my right, ready to make a left turn. So, I wait for them to go. And I wait. And I wait. Then I get the angry, agitated wave to me to go first. Why? Why not just go when you can. You have the right of way. And why get pissy with me because I can't read your mind and realize you're waiting for me when you don't need to!

Go to the user profile. Under the user picture, there is a box that says "Follow Author". To the right of that is an arrow pointing down. Click on that and it will bring up a menu. Select "Send Message".

154447 Nevada,

Due to our exchanges, I would like it if you'd modify your post and be more specific about what you're looking for. I'm still not clear as to why I can't be of help. I'm accepting it, but it might be good for others to know what it is you want so they don't bother sending you a PM if they can't be of help.

Thanks.

Tomas, you're a great member in this group. You've given good advice and asked some great questions. I can tell you're working hard on your novel. You're a writer and a valued member here.

If you're spending more time on edits than you did writing the rough draft, you're doing it right. I love the editing part of it. That's where the real magic happens. It's where you get to dig around in this pile of rubble and find the diamonds.

Yep. I still believe there are a lot of people out there that will not give an Indie book a try. All we can do is keep putting our books out there, writing more and more, making sure they are the best they can be until this stigma goes away. I think it will.

Nope. You can be mad about anything you want."

Er... I should ad that you still need to follow the group rules - no ranting about politics and religion. No attacking other authors, their books, etc. But, pretty much anything else is fair game.

154447 Rereading old stuff is always an adventure. Sometimes I grin and go, "Wow, I can't believe I wrote that" and I swell up with unfiltered and sunshiny pride.

Then... there are the other things... let's just say there's a few works I've unpublished and they'll never see the light of day again, not to mention dozens of drafts of stories so awful I almost want to give up writing.

Sure. In fact, at one time we had a thread of nothing but gifs.

154447 Well... with the holiday fast approaching, (Halloween) I do have several things set up. I don't really advertise, though, so I'll leave things as they are and see what happens.

Thanks for the heads up.

154447 Nevada (cool name) I'll PM you.

Everyone else, Nevada is asking for PMs. There's no reason to be posting links here, especially since it's against our code of conduct.
154447 John wrote: "Have to disagree here. "across the entire globe" clearly means earth, unless another planet has been mentioned. "

It may be clear to you. It's not clear to me. We're all here to post opinions and that's all my post is, an opinion. The author is free to take it for what it is.

Even if it is the Earth, it's not clear when this will happen. Ten years from now? A thousand? Setting is important to me. If I can't get a good sense of it, I lose interest in a book.
