152301 Thanks Sean, it's really nice to take care of my bookshelf like this :)
(and to listen my complaints :p)

I could have put Twilight as "a book that scares me". Good luck with this one :D

152301 Welcome everybody :)

Yes Ace, the group is growing really fast. We'll have to push the walls soon :)

Nice to see people from all around the world, it's a good way to discover new books.
Don't worry if you have to catch-up a little, some weeks are really light and will help you to complete some older categories ;)

152301 Oh The little Lord :D I liked so much the animated series when I was young. I read the book years later but I don't remember it, so I can't tell if it's good or not.

I'm trying too to wait to buy all the books, as I won't read them soon :)

152301 Welcome :)
Can you add the week for your book (edit your post and choose the week in the list) or tell us the week so a mod could move the thread? Thanks :)

152301 Ok, I finished 2 books for the romance week:
- Persuasion was the classic book. I don't like classic romance so it wasn't really interesting and I enjoyed only the last part of the book. Nothing happened and characters were shallow, argh.
- Playing for Keeps was my 1st choice as a funny book, but after some chapters, I concluded that it wasn't funny. It's a modern romance, so it's cheesy but, well... the characters are sooooo cute :p Easy read and I enjoyed it as much as I can enjoy a romance movie (brainless but warmful with lots of dramas).

As I've already read my movie book, I'll take some free time to continue my side reads :)

Changed: book from an author with my initials (#48). I found one who writes children books and these ones look so good :D

152301 Finished! It was a short read luckily, because I wanted to throw by the window most of the characters. I liked the love story (it rings some bell here :p) but I'm disappointed because it stayed so superficial during all the book. The letter was almost the only deep moment, the rest of the story is about shallow characters, stupid discussions and boring events.

Niki > I didn't have THIS problem because when I'm in love, I'm a little like Anna. It's easier to be involved emotionally when you recognize yourself a little in the character. I think the Frederick's point of view is laking, it would be a lot more intense if he told his feelings.

152301 Well, the group is for people doing the popsugar RC and wanting to discuss the books, so... welcome :D
We'll work by week, so if you succeed to catch-up, it will be easier for the discussions, but feel free to do what is the best for you and continue the books you are currently reading :)

152301 I'm a binary girl, so my birthday is the 10. Lots of 1 and 0 :D

152301 You're welcome :)
Yes, there are lots of dystopia, it's not easy to choose one, but luckily with all the titles, we have lots of books to read!
I'll tell you how The Lottery is, so you have an advice before reading it.

I read I Kill Giants as ebook in 2013 and ordered the anniversary paperback version published in may 2014, I wanted it so much :D The writer and the illustrator put a lot of heart in it, creating something different and pretty interesting. I'll be happy to know what you think about it.

152301 Great :)

152301 I believe in re-reading :D
But only for the books I love so much :) I think some characters could count as friends as I'm really happy every time I meet them again.

My top re-reads are Ronia, the Robber's Daughter and The Death Gate cycle by Margaret Weis (this one is funny for me because the 1st time I read it, I was younger than my fav character and now I'm older than him). Just after, Lord of the Rings by Tolkien and The Dark Tower cycle by King.
I think Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and the Wizard of Oz could fit in my re-read list but I try not to read the same book each time (change the format or the language, keep only the theme...), so it's not really a re-read for me :D

152301 Look at your "Home" page, you'll have "2015 Reading Challenge" on the right bottom. It's the official Goodreads challenge: you decide how many books you'll read in a year and each time you mark a book as "read", your bar progresses. The goal is to reach the number you decided, for the 31 december :)
In the app, it's in "More" and "Reading Challenge".

152301 We have the same book for week #5. I hope you will read it on this week, so I've someone to discuss it :)
I'll read Eleanor & Park and Dorian Gray, but for other weeks (43 & 39).
And as many members, we'll read The Night Circus for the magic book :D
Jan 11, 2015 03:21AM

152301 It's an interesting point of view :D
Jan 11, 2015 03:05AM

152301 You never read Matilda? I read it many times, it's my favorite Roald Dalh's book, I hope you'll enjoy it :)
You have lots of interesting books in your list (we'll read the same ones on weeks 40, 41, 49).
Haha, the book with bad reviews (mine is one of them :D), maybe I'll have to read the sequel which has more bad reviews :p

Question: Hunger's Game is in your antonyms week. What are the antonyms here? :p
Jan 11, 2015 02:56AM

152301 I would say no, but it's interesting to consider fiction based on the true history, so maybe we can decide it's ok :)
Jan 11, 2015 02:37AM

152301 Wow, I love the bouquet *__*

152301 Welcome everyone :)

Lou, I agree, books are a great way to escape from your life ;) Haha, I never read technical manuals (except when something doesn't work, of course). Luckily, with ebooks and a bookcase full of love, I'll never have to do it (I hope!).

152301 Memoir = biography.
Examples: Lucky Man: A Memoir (by Michael J Fox), Steve Jobs, Joss Whedon: The Biography, The Wild Truth: The Untold Story of Sibling Survival (by the hero's sister of Into the Wild).

A true story = a story based on something which happened for real.
Examples: Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption, Into the Wild.

Some true stories books are memoirs, memoirs and true stories are non-fiction, and you can catch a headache deciding what to read :p

152301 For me, a manga or a graphic novel is a book, but can't count for the 500+ pages week for example. Someone wrote a book from the manga: Death Note: Another Note.
