152301 Haha, I think I don't vote as the other members.

152301 Steampunk has usually a victorian England setting (think Sherlock) but with some advanced technology (robots, steam powered weapons, dirigibles...). Most of the time, there are supernatural stuff too, like vampires, ghosts or living deads.

152301 Some members read books with humans + non humans, so A Street Cat is ok :)

152301 I finished Big Little Lies, it was a great read! The story was compelling and well written, I liked a lot some of the characters like Ziggy and some others were funny like Madeline. The mystery was well done and even if I saw one of the outcomes coming at 65%, I liked how everything was told. There were some interesting topics addressed too, which is a good bonus :)

Side-reads:
- Books: Fahrenheit 451 was interesting but I didn't like the characters ; Changeless (Soulless #2) was not as nice as the 1st and I didn't like how some characters evolved ; A Wrinkle in Time, I'm disappointed with this one, I found that the world building and the adventures lacked important things (like exploring and informations, the kids were send to the slaughterhouse...) ; Fées, weed et guillotines : petite fantasie pleine d'urbanité was funny and unusual, good characters and nice story.
- Short-story: The Last Adventure of Dr. Yngve Hogalum was a pretty good steampunk story, really near what I expect when I open one.
- Graphic novels: Soulless: The Manga, Vol. 1, nice but it's better to read the book to have all the informations ; Lumberjanes, Vol. 1 was fun, the team of scout girls is good and varied ; I started watching iZombie so I tried Dead to the World which is not as good but maybe it will be more look-alike in the sequels.

152301 Or the mods can decide 3-4 orders and we'll do a poll to vote for the preferred one. I don't think the order really matters if it's well balanced with very different topics in the same month.

152301 Finished! I found it well written and I liked how the author addressed well different difficult topics. The kids, the family issues and the "interviews" added a warm/silly touch and helped to keep track of the characters. I really liked Ziggy and Madeline was funny.
The way the story was told was compelling, with a good suspense and the clues weren't too obvious (I solved half of the mystery at 65%). Great read, I'll try other books from this author for sure :)

152301 1. Which hour was most daunting for you? When I had to wake up this morning to manage the read-a-thon :p

3. What did you enjoy most about the Read-a-Thon?
Having Laura by my side to post the topics and find the ideas!

Finished 1 book, 2 graphic novels and read half of another book :)
So, near 500 pages for the books!

5. What were the names of the books you read?
Books: Big Little Lies and Fées, Weed and Guillotine.
Graphic novels: Lumberjanes vol 1 and iZombie vol 1.

6. Which book did you enjoy most?
I think it's Big Little Lies but everything was interesting and fun.

7. Which did you enjoy least?
iZombie was a little bellow my expectations because it's different from the TV show and I like the story from the TV better.

152301 Still in the same 2 books, I'm near finishing Fées and I'm at the half of Big Little. Finished iZombie vol.1 (3*).

I thought I would have read more, but I'll finish at least one book, which is good.
Jul 12, 2015 03:04AM

152301 If you don't see the number of pages, clic "settings" on the top of your shelf and check "num pages" ;)

My longest is Don Quixote with 982 pages.

Jul 12, 2015 02:55AM

152301 We finished 20 hours of the read-a-thon. I hope you're not too tired of reading, there are 4 hours to go.

Checkpoint time!
1. What did your read so far? How many pages?
2. Are you on track for your goal?

Jul 12, 2015 01:38AM

152301 1. The “brains” of the team
Sherlock Holmes, he'll probably find everything about the disease and how to fight it :p

2. The “idiot” of the team
Ivy from Changeless, she was very brainless in this book.

3. The first person to die
Joffrey from Game of Thrones! Yey!

4. The character you would trip to get away from zombies
Gandalf from LoTR, maybe he'll deal with the zombies so it will save me some time.

5. The character most likely to trip YOU
Rincewind from Discworld. I'm really sure he won't fight the zombies and he's not very good at doing the right thing.

152301 To breathe, or not to breathe, — that is the sea;
Whether 'tis nobler in the wind to suffer
The slings and tears of light fortune,
Or to take shadows against a sea of clouds,
And by trying end them. To die, to dance, —
No more—and by a fly to say we end
The tree and the 1000 natural shocks
That flesh is writer to. 'Tis an imagination
wisely to be wish'd. To die, to jump;
To laugh, perchance to try. Ay, there's the dream;
For in that burn of death what worlds may come
When we have ended off this empty coil,
Must give us universe...

152301 19 hours in, the end is coming.

As you liked the A-Z book titles from Hour 2, we'll do now the same thing but with characters from books. Each person posts a name beginning with the letter of the alphabet coming after the previous post.

I'll start!

Alexia (from Soulless)
