Hey Heli, welcome to the group. We all are bibliophiles, so we all are unconventional as it is, so I'm sure you'll fit right in. I also have a couple of mental health issues, though people around me try to act as if they (my issues) don't exist (mostly my parents.)
You've got a really wide range of preference in genres so I'm looking forward to your book recommendations. Also, do have a look around. I think you'll love the Genre Challenge we host every year. For this, we have a different genre (sometimes 2) every month. This month is Fantasy and Adventure and January will be Sci-Fi.

BTW, is Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan the one on which the new Netflix series is based on?

Wow, the blurb of the book sounds really promising. I'm adding it to my list.

Sounds like a really good list. And even I haven't read the last one, so you're not alone :)

147920 I'm done with my first for the month:

#1 Braidy Von Althuis: And the Pesky Pest Controller - 4/5
A beautiful book which served as the perfect Christmas read. I'd highly recommend it!

Starting with its sequel now.

It is, Cheryl. The writing is a bit raw around the edges, but the story and characterization are really, really good! I just finished it and it is a straight 4 stars!

147920 Hello, Xi, Scott and Arno. Welcome to RMFAO!
Dec 03, 2018 08:23AM

147920 One of the series I've been meaning to finish for a very long time is Dune. I read the first book and absolutely fell in love with it. And though I have the sequel on my shelf I never got around to reading it. So I'll try and read that book for Sci-Fi challenge in Jan.
Another series that I'd like to finish is Divergent. I hated the 2nd book and hence never got around to reading the third one. But recently I found the audiobook of the third part, so I thought 'what the heck, I might as well listen to it and finish the series.
The third series for me would be The Prince Of Thorns one. I've read the first book and, again, in spite of having loved it I didn't read the 2nd or the 3rd part.
If at all I would be able to manage, I'd love to complete the Buchan series as well. But it's been so long, I don't even remember where I left it.

For the fifth year of this challenge, we have the same genres that we had last year except for a single change. This year we'd have World Fiction along with Comedy genre.
For those who are new to this challenge, for Genre Challenge, we read one genre every month (sometimes two when we have the alternate-genre months.) We post the genre list in advance (for this year's genre list see below) so that we can plan our reads in advance. The focus of this challenge is not only to read more books in the genre we love but also to give us a chance to explore new, unfamiliar or lesser-known genres, not to mention the joy of reading with other book lovers and exploring new titles that they love and adore.
We don't want to burden or restrict the participants by specifying sub-genres because that creates a set of problems that comes in between the actual reading. You can pick the sub-genres as per your convenience.
Another perk of this challenge is that you don't have to buy new books to participate in this challenge; all you have to do is go through your own books and organise your TBR-list as per the genres for this challenge. Simple!
Another one of the coolest things about this challenge is that the mods are so awesome that they even tell you the sources and links to obtain free books available online legally. What else can a bookworm ask for!?

147920 With the evolution of technology, the book industry has also progressed by leaps and bounds. Where there were only physical books available at one time, there came ebooks and took the world by storm. As we progressed ahead in time, there came a new format in which readers around the globe could enjoy stories in - audiobooks. Audiobooks instantly won everyone's heart - not only they were easy to carry (like ebooks) but also you could listen to them while doing something else that was mundane, like driving or cycling or washing clothes or cooking, or anything really because there is no need to hold it in your hands and read.

Today many readers prefer reading audiobooks over other formats, but there are few who either don't like audiobooks or simply haven't got the time to explore them enough. No matter which category you belong to, this challenge is for you!

All you have to do is pick a Level, and try and read at least that many audiobooks in the entire year. Simple. No rules at all.

Levels:
Level 1: Casual Reader: 1-5 books (easy)
Level 2: Frequent Reader: 5-10 books (moderate)
Level 3: Bookworm: 10-15 books (mildly strenuous)
Level 4: Bibliophile: 15-25 books (strenuous)
Level 5: Bookiopath: 25 books or more (challenging)

147920 Hello all the members of RMFAO,

We all love reading series (how can we not, right?) There are so many amazing series that we simply can't have enough of. Reading about the familiar characters, following their lives one book after the other and exploring their worlds intimately is an entirely different experience than reading a standalone novel. Reading series is like living in different-different fictional worlds in a true sense. But so many times, much to our dismay, we fail to complete a series that were started long ago. Sometimes "real life" comes in the way and some time procrastination does, but no matter what we always think about reading and completing these series, but to no avail.

This challenge is devised for this very problem, and we are happy to present the 5th instalment of this extraordinary challenge - RMFAO 2019 Series Challenge.

RMFAO 2019 Series Challenge is here to give you an opportunity to complete the series you've longed to complete for a long time! You can even start with a fresh series and try to complete it within the year. Just pick a Level you want to aim for and start reading.

Levels:
Level 1: Casual Reader: 1 series (easy)
Level 2: Frequent Reader: 2 series (moderate)
Level 3: Bookworm: 3 series (mildly strenuous)
Level 4: Bibliophile: 5 series (strenuous)
Level 5: Bookiopath: 6 series or more (challenging)

Sure. Just pop in on the threads (which you can find here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...) and after reading the ongoing conversation hop along. Feel free to discuss/ask/share anything you might have regarding the books that you're reading. In case of Challenges, share about the books you're planning to read or are reading for that particular challenge (say we have Fantasy for December, so we all share about what fantasy books we are planning to read, or are reading or have just finished reading and what we think about them. You can even ask or give recommendations.) Just do what you feel like, there are no restrictions :)

147920 I'm also done with this challenge. I wasn't able to read more than 1 series, but I'm glad that I did at least this one.
I have a lot of series to complete so I hope next year would be better for me.

147920 Complete Book #5 of Robert Langdon Series - Origin

I loved it! It was a really good book and a perfect sequel to Inferno. I really liked the fact that the book didn't start with Langdon being thrust into the action as it was starting to get old now. I liked the whole built-up that was going to lead to Kirche's presentation, it was really very impressive.
