Hahaha... That must be it :D
But honestly I thought the author went a bit overboard with the whole colours-for-descriptions thing. I mean it felt like Scarlett might have even taken a dump in colours. I mean what the hell was all that!? And here I thought I might be the worst writer ever because my exposition is not good. Lol. I really wasn't expecting anything like this from such a popular book.

Hello, Mohan. Nice to have you here. I'm an author myself, though I write thriller/horror fiction.
You're an initiated priest? I'm a Hindu so lemme know if it's okay to call you Pandit Ji (I wouldn't want to offend you by addressing you by your first name.) And this si so cool! I've never met a Hindu priest who writes romance novels. So it's really great to meet you.
And as Cheryl said, you can post about your book(s) on our dedicated thread for authors.
Happy Reading!

147920 Dagny - Talking about cozy mysteries, can you please recommend a good cozy mystery series that might be available on Librivox or Gutenberg that I might enjoy. I love Christie's works (though they are a bit eye-roll worthy, I still love reading them) so anything like that would be great!! Thanks in advance <3

147920 Fran and Marjorie - most of the readers here are mystery/thriller lovers so I'm sure you guys will have a lot of fun. Do share your favourites in these genre as it would be great to explore some new titles and series.

I'm a huge thriller and mystery fan but I tend to love the darker works. I'm pretty new to cozy mysteries (though I do like a good Agatha Christie book) so I'd really appreciate recommendations :)

147920 Wow, seeing that everyone is going for Level 5, I'm also tempted. So even I'll try and do 6 series at the least. I think I might include Caraval trilogy to it, but I'm still not sure if I want to read Legendary given Caraval wasn't very impressive. Though, I have a feeling that the 2nd book might be better than the first one. I'll be posting the updated list of my Series names in a couple of days as I'm still figuring out what all to read.

147920 Did anyone else noticed the overuse of words 'ribbon' and 'butter'?? It made me laugh every time I came across either one.

147920 Come to think of it, comparing this book to The Night Circus is insulting Night Circus as it doesn't even come close to the brilliance Night Circus unquestionably is.

147920 Finished it and felt that overall it was an okay read - not as enchanting as I expected it to be (not by far) but not ridiculously bad too. I liked the ending part because it was a bit interesting, but that's about it. The characterization felt very week and the descriptions felt very forced and too flowery to even like. The plot was good but wasn't well-executed. I feel it was missing a lot of things that a basic Fantasy story should have. Anyway, for me, it is a 3/5 read and I won't be recommending it to anyone other than teen girls.

OMG, 3000 wpm!? That's that... wow.

Feel free to join us for the next year's series challenge to complete this series. It would be interesting to know your thoughts on this series and the spin-offs.

I'm so glad you're reading this book, Dagny. This is by far one of the books that managed to really impress the hell out of me!
I had to Google it when I read about the Zapruder film and I'm glad that I did it because initially I thought it was some made up name that author gave as an imaginary comparison.

This book was so insanely amazing that when I started watching the movie (in which they totally destroyed the spirit of the book) I turned it off after 10 minutes only because it was a total buzz-kill!

Oh, no. It is always a pleasure to see the members not only participating but also hosting buddy reads. We had a lot of those in 2017. That's why this year we had 4 big ones planned.

WOW! That is totally awesome, Dagny. Now even I feel like I should plan and try to read a good amount for this month. It would definitely be challenging but fun nonetheless. I'll also try and read 8-10 books (nothing as compared to you but better than what I read this year I suppose.

I'm not into most of the classics because of the heavy laden writing and loaded exposition, therefore, I prefer reading Manga classics. If you're not into Mark Twain's writing then this is the safest bet to read this book. Even as Manga it did feel a bit drawn out, but it's still a thousand times better than having to read the original story.

Good to have you here, Debara. These challenges really help a lot in clearing the TBR lists!

147920 Dagny, I'd really appreciate if you can recommend something on the lines of The Turn Of The Screw. Anything involving a haunted house/mansion/hotel/town would be great too.
And if there's a classic or two on cult killings it would be like hitting a jackpot. I'm researching for 'Sinister Town' and want to understand this genre more as I haven't read as many horror books as I should have, so any horror book that you think is good would do too as I'm planning on focusing on horror genre throughout next year.

Looking forward to reading your recommendations! Please take your time in responding :)

147920 Done with my 3rd (this one for adventure though.)

#3 Manga Classics: Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - 3/5

It was an okay read. Like always, a lot of jabbering and slow story progression. Though it was a bit more enjoyable than some of the other books. Overall, I'm glad I read it as a Manga graphic novel instead of reading the original story.

147920 I've already got a big list of books for the next year and I'm really excited for Thrillers and mysteries as I have a lot of new ones!

I'll need some time to think it over, but will let you know by next week if I'll be joining.
Also, I'll be setting up the January thread next week, make sure to post about this there as well so that everyone gets to know about the Seeker buddy read. Once you gather a couple of people (even 2-3 will do) then I'll set up a separate thread for this book under Buddy Reads so that you can host this buddy read.

147920 I'm feeling a little interested in the plot now, but still not able to relate to any of the characters. The descriptions feel like a waste so I'm skimming a lot. Hopefully, I'll be done with it in a day or two.
