Terns of Endearment by Donna Andrews, the newest J.D. Robb (out in September-I think), the list is long and growing daily. :)
It is a great thing to start life with a small number of really good books which are your very own. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 - 1930)
I finished A Dangerous Collaboration- the latest by Deanna Raybourn, and am now reading Geekerella by Ashley Poston.
One favorite? I've got 3, each very different: Just Once by Lori Handeland, Becoming by Michelle Obama, and Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. A book to make you feel, to make you think, and to make you laugh.
I finished reading The Only Woman in the Room about Hedy Lamarr, and her invention that helped develop cell phones. Now I'm rereading A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn. Awesome series.
I'm a mood reader, definitely. In fact, there are books that I've bought and then waited to read. I try to read something fun and also something to stretch my brain.
I'm thinking of getting my own copy of the Mueller Report and reading it on my vacation. B&N has it in ebook for free, but it's not easy to read it on my Nook. I might also sample the writings of more of the Presidential candidates (so far I've read Buttigieg's and Harris's books). Or poetry, maybe Whitman or Dickinson (I took a class in grad school on just the two of them). Or maybe just binge on cozy mysteries. :)
I'm currently reading Brotherhood in Death by J.D. Robb. Not sure what I'll read next, but the mountain of books next to my reading chair gives me plenty of options. P.S. I also would like to point out that Hamilton the musical started out because Lyn-Manuel Miranda picked up Hamilton the biography as his vacation read. :)
1. Thank you for your service- Shortest Way Home- Pete Buttigieg2. It's so pretty- Red, White, & Royal Blue- Casey McQuiston
4. Stop, thieft!- Death Waits in the Dark- Julia Buckley
6. Nom de plume- Festive in Death- J.D. Robb
8. Book to screen- Born a Crime- Trevor Noah (movie- Lupita Nyong'o will be in and also producing it).
Jennifer wrote: "I don't care how they adapt it - sometimes what you read - while in black in white - is interpreted differently by whomever is reading it. Personally, I will not read a book if I have watched the m..."It made sense, if there is a book adaptation out and I have not read the book, I try to read the book before I see the movie. Very rarely will I read the book after I have seen the movie.
A bag about books would be cool. This past weekend: I finished Educated by Tara Westover and read Born a Crime by Trevor Noah and Red, White & Blue by Casey McQuiston. I am currently working my way (slowly) through Harold Bloom's The Daemon Knows: Literary Greatness and the American Sublime (very slowly), I also just bought the next four J.D. Robb books.
I'll check out Book Pages when we get it in, I'll also check out Wowbrary if something catches my eye, I also read book reviews here, and on Barnes and Noble (particularly their ebooks on sale). That's why my to be read lists keep growing exponentially. Books in a bag? I love books in a bag. Throw in some nonfiction too, I seem to be on a kick. :)
Recently I have finished The Moment of Lift by Melinda Gates, The Shortest Way Home by Pete Buttigieg, and The Truths We Hold by Kamala Harris. And just for giggles I downloaded The Mueller Report (I'm still on page 1). Next up, either cozies, or continue my binge of J.D. Robb's In Death series.
1) Bicycles by Nikki Giovanni2) The Life of Captain Marvel by Margaret Stohl
3) Concealed in Death by J.D. Robb
5) Survival of the Fritters by Ginger Bolton
6) The Headspace Guide to Meditation and Mindfulness by Andi Puddicombe
7) The Moment of Lift- Melinda Gates
I've been reading a lot from the 900s (history) and the 300s (social sciences) , but I'd say my favorite area of nonfiction is the 800s (literature). When I'm not reading cozy mysteries or binging on J.D. Robb mysteries- I've been reading books by women in the news, or esoteric nonfiction.
I just finished Thankless in Death by J.D. Robb. I've picked out my book of poems for the Take It or Leave It Challenge, and still want to finish reading The Headspace Guide to Meditation and Mindfulness.
