Discussions have been circling round the Genre Challenge for next year.
Please check out this thread to help us make the Genre Challenge even better next year. And we need your opinions on a new idea!
And pretty, pretty please, check out our new poll: we need answers!
Also, a massive congratulations to Renee, Sandy and Kassandra, for joining our moderator team. We've got big discussions going on, so watch this space!

There has been some recent discussion in the Suggestions/Improvements thread, and all us Moderators have started planning things for next year. I know, it still seems ages away! I'll split this post in half.
Part One - Changes to the Current Challenge
Anyway, there has been talks about changing things for the Genre Challenge. Me and Faye originally set up this years as a general one, so everyone would be reasonably happy, but now we have your input.
What genres do you guys want to see added? What are your least favourite genres right now?
There will probably be a poll going up finalising all this, when we have a better idea of what you guys want.
Part Two - A New Non-Fiction Genre Challenge
This was originally discussed some time back, but we instead decided to simplify it and go for a general non-fiction group read. In 2015, we'd really love to do a Non-Fiction Genre Challenge, incorporating all the sub-genres of Non-Fiction. We do have a list going, but ultimately, we want to know if people will be interested?
Do you want a separate non-fiction genre challenge? Would you participate?
You can check out the poll for this here. We'd love to have your input!
Thank you!

Some ideas for categories:
Self Help
(Auto-)Biographies
True-Story
Essay
Edit: Just seen Renee's list! Which looks far better than mine!

Nevertheless, I'm obviously going to University for the course, which I'm amazingly excited about.
Had the massive The Norton Anthology of Poetry and Literary Theory: An Anthology books come through, so I'm currently pouring over them while my parents look on in disgust. Just joking, they just don't understand my love of literary theory and (certain) poetry. Getting very psyched!

Obviously, there's been a large increase in interest in comic books with the recent Marvel and DC films taking over our cinemas. What are your views on comic books? Are you secretly a die hard fan with a hoard of comics? Or maybe you're only recently discovering them?
Comic books. Hell yes? Oh god no?

Here's my planned list for Uni reading over the next few weeks:
Finish The Ode Less Travelled: Unlocking the Poet Within
A Study in Scarlet
The Power Of Yes: A Dramatist Seeks To Understand The Financial Crisis
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Manhattan Transfer
The Book of Illusions

The Readathon has been a massive success, so we'll definitely be holding more! Well done massively to everyone who read with us.
We'll definitely be taking the Halloween one into thought, it would also fit in with the Genre challenge.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how to improve it, don't hesitate to send me a message. It would be great to hear everyones views.

Please refrain from posting in here unless it is really needed. Just to keep it all tidy! :)

The only issue really is actually voting. Goodreads doesn't allow ordered votes (eg, ranking genres 1-12), so using the polls feature would be very clunky, unless we can work out a way to vote.
As for the members favourite reads, I absolutely love the idea. I am a bit confused though. Is like a leader-led buddy read? Or simply a discussion for anyone who has read it or wants to read it? We could make like a calendar and have the weekly member post, where one member talks about their favourite book.
I am loving your thirst for ideas, Aitziber, thank you!

Reading on the other hand has been very slow, but I should be able to do a lot more tomorrow.
And Renee, don't worry about the event. It was just to get an idea of how popular it would be, and is not really anything official :)

Especially since I'm sure how much I'm gonna read this weekend! Travelling, then have to sort some stuff for uni. Then I'm out partying, with jet lag... Yay... Luckily I probably won't have internet, so you guys won't get any drunken messages from me!
And I have a plus one, so that's both exciting and terrifying. Any tips for the wacky world of dating?

Here's finally the opportunity to rave about The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot. I have no clue why it did, but it was the first poem I really really loved.
I was actually reading a piece of fanfiction which quoted it, and looked it up. Turns out its also my godmother's favourite poem as well. I totally recommend you checking it out!
Not sure this also counts, but any spoken word poetry by Andrea Gibson. My notable favourites are 'Andrew', 'I Do' and 'The Nutritionist'. Don't get me wrong, they're amazing read, but they are so much more phenomenal listened to. Search her on YouTube, either for her album 'When The Bough Breaks', or some of her performances.
Another notable mention is Paradise Lost. Seriously blew me away.
